I think it relates to his inability to know his limits - he thinks he is so much smarter than he actually is - and it causes things like that to happen.

Black-Lewis saw the $177,000 and $43,800 loans, one for each of the spas she owns in Washington state, as a lifeline she could use for payroll and other business expenses.
When Black-Lewis convened a virtual employee meeting to explain her good fortune, she expected jubilation and relief that paychecks would resume in full even though the staff — primarily hourly employees — couldn’t work.
She got a different reaction.
The anger came from employees who’d determined they’d make more money by collecting unemployment benefits than their normal paychecks.
“I couldn’t believe it,” she added. “On what planet am I competing with unemployment?”

As I heard one commentator say ... businesses can be made to rise again, but not dead people.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 7:23 amThat is all fine and good Doc. Where is your letter of consolation to those many thousands of folks whose business will never reopen? If you want to tell em they took one for the FLP team I bet you don't have the nads to say that to them face to face. They did not ask to have their way of living shut down, they were ordered to do so by a loving, caring and benevolent government. Is it ironic that this same government is complaining about the devastation put upon all these business folks that the government created in the first place. Time for a bailout...DocBarrister wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 4:13 amWe’re not even close to the conditions required to safely open up the economy. China, which is even more obsessed with economic growth than the U.S., kept Wuhan in a far stricter lockdown for 76 days. We’re only about halfway through that length of time. We don’t have anywhere near the quarantine capabilities of China, or the testing capabilities of South Korea. More importantly, we aren’t anywhere close to having this pandemic under control.ggait wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 1:41 pm Note what this guy actually says:
The clock has run out on blanket lockdowns. It's time to reopen, CAREFULLY, & get Americans back to work.
No one disagrees with that.
Everyone (except dummies and partisan hacks) says opening recklessly (calling Gov. Kemp!!) is stupid, dangerous and counter-productive economically.
Sure, this is a good time to prepare for reopening the economy, but Trump’s panel for such planning includes both Ivanka and Jared.
We’re opening up the economy without being anywhere ready. It’s yet another disaster that Trump is pushing ... all in a desperate effort to stay in office.

I think the stimulus and aid packages passed to date are too little, too late, and too slow.
If we want to mitigate all the harm done to individuals and businesses (for the good cause of keeping people alive), then we will need to spend at least ten trillion dollars or so, about four times as much spent already. Probably more. Republicans in Congress need to get over their reticence over these massive aid packages.
The economy can’t open back up until people feel confident they won’t get infected and suffer severe illness or die. For example, Disneyland can open again, but people won’t go unless they really feel safe taking their children. You can order barber shops back open, but barbers won’t go to work if they don’t feel safe, and most folks won’t risk their lives for a haircut.
They say the ability to delay gratification is one of the most important signs of intelligence and diligence in children. In Trump, you have a leader who has virtually no impulse control. Bringing a pandemic under control and keeping people safe takes time, lots of time.
This crisis will be with us in one form or another for at least another year. Doesn’t mean we will be in complete lockdown all that time, but the “new normal” won’t come around until a vaccine is ready and implemented.
We have been in shutdown mode for just five weeks. Trump and Congress need to start passing more aid bills (trillions of dollars) and soon.
And the American people need to be told the truth by their president ... that this crisis will almost certainly be stretching to some degree deep into next year.

It's at the bottom of the working wage level that this program is "better" than the regular pay.
But only there. And only temporarily.
Post crisis we're going to see all sorts of wage pressures up from the bottom, minimum wage requirements etc.

Could make a long list of corrupt business people.
Doctors committing Medicare fraud, pushing opioids or hip replacements for $, etc, etc.
Long lists.
corruption. I think he was referring more to incompetence and perhaps partisan gridlock.
I'd argue that we haven't seen this level of widespread gross incompetence in any Administration, at least in my lifetime. Definitely have not had this sort of corruption in a White House for the last 40 years.
However, plenty of partisan gridlock the prior 8 years though, especially the latter 6 years. That's indeed been a 'mess'. Ongoing.

We should turn government over to the AOC wing of the Democratic Party who now urge people to boycott work once the Covid crisis is over. Surely there will be no incompetence there.

That will be the clarion call of Democrats in less than 4 years; don't work, just collect a check for breathing oxygen, let robots take over. If you doubt it, you don;'t know your party too well, or are afraid to admit what is going on under the covers. Literally the opposite of why America is so exceptional.

As I'm not a stock picker, I won't bite on ANY of these, but it's interesting nevertheless.
I tend to think that Bill Gates has a good handle on all this. Bill's message is that there's many, many therapeutics and many, many vaccines in the pipeline and the odds are good that there will be some successes.
The degree of efficacy matters.
Some help is good, higher efficacy obviously better on the therapeutics.
There may be multiple 'winners' based on specific types of patients, specific symptoms, and timing.
"Best" for each will win, but not all that produce some efficacy will be 'winners' in the marketplace.
According to Bill, some approaches appear more promising than others, typically aren't touted publicly.
On the vaccines, the big question may be how persistent any immunity is relative to a mutating virus. No sure things.
But super important to actual return to something reasonably close to pre-pandemic 'normal'.

Of course, you know that, you're just trolling again.
That said, I don't think it's entirely out of the question to see a general strike happen...post crisis. I suspect we're going to see a whole lot of willingness to take much bigger steps to force social/economic change in the wake of this thing.
Let me suggest that you support Biden and the moderate wing of the Dems to mediate those pressures. Otherwise, it could get quite bloody if handled poorly.
