Wrong, we just drew attention to the partisan bs. As you read further, even the author starts waffling. Unlike Crenshaw....who paints the timeline and shows how you use real-time dates with real time events taking place.

Wonder why Nancy was dragging her feet and only brought up flavored tobacco?....maybe, so you guys could play more blame game for her?

Watching this Coronavirus program on Italy. You naysayers and want to be party goers should watch it. These clowns protesting are just going to get some people killed.

When I drove my wife to BWI on Jan 18 for her flight to FL, I told her I was glad we had a car down there because she'd probably need to drive back home, ...which she did, a month later.

I began social distancing & avoilding public gatherings as soon as the first case popped in the US.

After watching this, I clicked on a similar youtube coronavirus feature and then went down the rabbit hole called comments. In those comments I found a reference to a game one can play on any chosen tech device called Plague Inc. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it on this thread but it looks like a simulation type game where the overall goal is to infect the world with a pathogen. Eerie!
https://www.ndemiccreations.com/en/22-plague-inc

Incidentally China removed the game from the China App store in late Feb.

We have some very sad news to share with our China based players. We've just been informed that Plague Inc. “includes content that is illegal in China as determined by the Cyberspace Administration of China” and has been removed from the China App Store. This situation is completely out of our control.

Video games aside, the Chinese weren't messing around as seen here (extension of OS's video). They 100% knew seriousness of China CV19.

The research I have done, regarding the dead NY cop.......diabetes, hypertension.....obese.

I can provide a source. How about YOUR claim, that a healthy cop died......HEALTHY......we will wait and wait. and wait.
 That's like saying that someone who died because they were shot in the head didn't count as dying from a bullet to the head "because they were fat, and they would have died anyways".

Healthy as in: if they didn't get the Coronavirus, they wouldn't be freaking dead. Why are you so desperate to pretend that this virus isn't killing people?

In any event, from the exact same source you just cited yourself, the NYPost.....which means YOU think the source is solid.

22 NYPD dead. And that was eight days ago.

https://nypost.com/2020/04/13/nypd-lose ... ronavirus/
Ummm.....NOt....dispatchers, janitors......parking meter maids........not really considered "cops" per se. And, again....ALL of them unhealthy.

Once more, just stop with statements that are not FACts.....but present them as if they are.

".....if they didn't get V-19, they wouldn't be dead....."

AFAN....you know this, for a fact.\? No, you don't. Plenty of unhealthy people getting it....and living........way more than are dying.

Just stop with they false facts. That is all that I am asking.

Are we still going to go with the "fear porn" moniker given that disturbing increase in mortality to NY policepeople or do the facts suggest a need for a less jingoistic phrasing of the issue?
HEALTHY.......my point, as it's always been....is the v-19 is killing UN-well, UNhealthy....people. Don't care that they.

You want to point to rare cases.........to justify this horrific shut down ? just wow

BS. I want every American to understand the history of the Civil War and slavery and Jim Crow in the United States.

It's the whitewashing of that history I don't want to see happen. Which is what you get when you go into some museums in the South, with euphemisms that sugar coat the horrors of slavery and Jim Crow. They like to talk about the 'sacrifices' made by white southerners to the Cause, brave 'heroes'...

Tell us, Salty, what aspects of the Confederacy are worthy of admiration rather than stigma?
Then tell us how slavery really wasn't so bad and there really wasn't a reign of terror during Jim Crow.
Don Q tilting another strawman windmill. You want every American to understand history as you depict it.
You ask me to tell you. Then you say what you want me to say, which is why rational discourse with sanctimonious virtue seekers is impossible.
Show us where I used the words admirable, sacrifice, or heroes ? Much of history is not admirable. That does not mean it should be erased.
Absolutely agree with what is bolded.
No, you didn't use those words, they're my description of some of the museum displays in the South.
Whitewashing the horrors of that history.

But I'm 100% in favor of museums which deal with the history without the sugar coating.
And that's where Confederate statues erected during Jim Crow and symbols belong. In such museums.

Not erased.

You want to 'memorialize' those who died for the Confederacy? They have gravestones.
More opinions being presented as "fact"

"Some" of the museums in the South? You don't get to make a claim like this with out backup.

We demand:

1. The name, location, hours of just ONE museum in the South.
2. Which display, in said museum.

MDlax, get in your car......drive NORTH, then west......plenty of southern "glorification" to be found in the Catoctin mountain range battlefields. When's the last time you went to Gettysburg?

You really think EVERY single person marching across that open field in Lee's idiotic attack on "fishhook" was a slave owner? Or even liked slavery? Maybe, just couldn't pay their way out of service. You know, the poor white trash of the South. Did they hang "deserters"??? exactly

more black hole ranting.

I can't tell whether your issue is the word 'south' about where such museums are because there are indeed 'glorifications' outside of the Deep South or whether you are arguing as to whether such 'glorifications' are appropriate.

Not sure I care what you are ranting about.

Took a bike ride through Gettysburg a couple of years ago, but last time on a tour was when my son was in middle school, so maybe a dozen years ago. So what.

I'm not a Civil War buff. wouldn't claim any special expertise, but I have read a lot of history and certainly in my educational era in Baltimore and with family throughout the south had quite a lot of exposure.

CU77 wrote: Sun Apr 19, 2020 5:59 pm That news clip was posted on Jan.24. At that point, the truth is known. And many in the Trump admin, including Peter Navarro, understood at that point. (Though Navarro, being a trumpista through and through, then lied about it on 60 Minutes last week.)

See David Frum's column in the Atlantic (I posted a link in the O.D. thread) to understand the Trump's admin's actual strategy going forward.
You talking about the 60 minutes piece, where Navarro's challenge was simple:

".....show where 60 minutes talked about shutting down business, the economy.... lockdowns."

This was Navarro's challenge. 60 minutes "gotcha" was one big giant fail. 60 minutes, not once, not ever, provided video/audio related to his challenge.

Stop with the lies. Plenty of truth to go around........but you TDS people STILL make crap up........LIE

What does your knowledge of Shermans March to the Sea tell you? If your a Yankee like me, he has always been a hero. If you are a southerner whose family members and non combatants suffered through the carnage of the march, Sherman was a war criminal. He skirted the edges of his authority and his men acted more like an out of control mob than a disciplined army. War is hell and Gen Sherman sure proved that. Right or wrong Gen Shermans crusade through the south has never been forgotten and never been forgiven all these years later by the folks of the south. The end justifies the means as the saying goes.

A watchdog out of Trump's grasp unleashes wave of coronavirus audits

Before the nitwits start bleating about Libs out to get Don the Con AGAIN...who DOESN'T want the distribution of this kind of coin monitored and audited?? Understand that this procedure is MANDATED by law and applies to whatever administration happens to be in place at the time...

The way Trump has systematically undermined and marginalized the internal systems meant to protect the integrity of these processes is what is worth vilifying, if anything.

We'll see what Mr. Dodaro turns up...maybe it'll be a glowing report of competent administration of a massive government program...?

Brutal, and by our standards of warfare today, yes, criminal.
For me, it's not actually a close call.

The history of warfare is ugly, very ugly, and it ALL should be understood, not white washed.

And the IC knew. And Trump knew.
US intel has the exact numbers of dead? Or heck, within a reasonable range?

I'd wager they don't.

And yes, we ALL assumed they are lying. But again: in what world does that give them a pass?

And again, if it was a EU nation reporting the real carnage in real time, with real media cameras? I believe that would have been ENORMOUSLY helpful. Its really difficult to picture what a pandemic looks like....

Agree to disagree. Let's move on...
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 114753.htm

Smart people had been anticipating something like this. We were slow to react. Lots of reasons why.
While stretching yesterday in the public park, overheard the conversation of 3 people. Talking about the value of education. How UN-educated people are hurting society. Other elitist nonsense.

I was actually laughing, they were such stereotypical pretends. Finally, asking them, since they came next to me, while I was stretching, in my best Ferris, "Yeah, education IS important. Are you talking actual life experience as education , coupled with college degrees, or just college degrees alone". They looked at each other, nodded that it was an interesting question, all 3 concluding that " college degrees. Especially Masters & above"

Ok......the pretends, stereotype was in full view now. I sardonically replied, " RIGHT.....and where they earned those degrees, is important too, right? I mean, I'm listening to someone from Harvard over UMass-Boston, right? "

The two women, picked up the sardonic tone, remained silent. the guy.....nope. He went on blabbering , agreeing with me. .

Finally done with stretching, I got up, and declared my faux affinity for their bigotted viewpoint.

"Yup..you are correct. College degrees are ALL that matter. Especially from the "right" ones. (oh, I emphasized the RIGHT alright) Lincoln, Truman, just horrible Presidents. No degrees.
" and quickly, of course added, " since you don't value NON-educated people, guessing you don't listen to college drop outs like Bill Gates, " at this point, he too picked up the sarcasm . The two woman, actually, looked ashamed.
"
And, yes, I left them with the question, "do you realize how closed minded and bigotted you all sound ? "

Smart people? Any of these 7 recommendations appear to be coming from "smart people"?

https://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org ... tions.html

I mean, with smart people REALLY laying out the groundwork, and details, on what, when and how, to do things. Seriously, this is the best that "smart" people can come up with? Vague, rudderless,

I do so love these smart people. writing junk like this: (from recommendation #2 )

During a catastrophic outbreak, countries may be reluctant to part with scarce medical resources. A robust international stockpile could therefore help to ensure that low and middle resource settings receive needed supplies regardless of whether they produce such supplies domestically.

What the heck.......can any of you quantify what that number would even be? ROBUST...stockpile. What does this even mean, in the real world?

TLD, you think AFAN is making ROBUST amounts of alcohol, or, could he give you a pretty gosh darn close & accurate number?

So, you guys are agreeing with me. That event 201 was useless. A complete waste of time? The coffee IS great at that hotel tho....
