. . . .

Guilfoyle, 51, has been accompanying Donald Trump Jr. to campaign events since they began dating two years ago. She had been a Fox News personality until she left the network in 2018. In January 2020, she was named chair of Trump Victory, a joint fundraising committee used to solicit and distribute money to the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee.

“She’s doing stuff, but she’s just like this silly cheerleader,” one of the White House advisers said of Guilfoyle. “She gets on these donor calls, and it’s ridiculous.”

The existence of the payments, but not the amounts, was first reported by The New York Times, which recounted a scene in which Guilfoyle confronted Parscale about why her payment checks were always late and Parscale responded that he would look into it. That incident took place June 18, 2019, at a Trump reelection rally in Orlando, Florida, suggesting that payments to Guilfoyle had been taking place for some time.
Kimberly’s sole job is to provide dirt on Gavin Newsom to make him look bad. Of late, though, he’s been outshining Trump so Kimmy better step up her game or The Donald will cut her off the payroll.

Trump’s Two Horrifying Plans for Dealing With the Coronavirus
David Frum

At a tense moment in HBO’s Chernobyl, Soviet authorities discover that their robot technology is too primitive and faulty to clear ultra-radioactive rubble.

They could ask the Americans for help; the Americans have the machines they need. But such a request would further humiliate the Soviet state, already deeply shamed by the backwardness and incompetence revealed by the accident. Instead, the Soviets resort to “biorobots”—human beings. Teams of workers will hazard the radiation that disabled machines. To save itself, the regime will sacrifice its people.

I thought of that scene during President Donald Trump’s press conference Thursday about reopening the U.S. economy.

In pandemic as in prosperity, the Trump way is to punish opponents, reward friends; accuse victims, protect culprits; demand credit, refuse accountability; protect preferred classes and groups of Americans—and sacrifice the rest.

Every time this thread pops up, I start laughing. This and the Russiagate insanity is good for a chuckle a day, though obviously not the way the posters intend.

“The American people know that no one in America wants to reopen this country more than President Donald Trump, and on Thursday the president directed us to lay out guidelines for when and how states could responsibly do that.”

“And in the president’s tweets and public statements, I can assure you, he’s going to continue to encourage governors to find ways to safely and responsibly let America go back to work.”

Toady Supreme Mike Pence on the President's deliberate efforts to urge followers to defy the lawful emergency orders of the Governors of numerous states. The Governors were "duly elected."

What has happened to the Presidency? To the GOP? To people who once said they were conservatives?

Holy moly, how is a "true conservative" to be defined? Some folks on this forum define them as nothing short of little nazis running around dictating to others what they should do and think. i guess they are more like socialist FLP folks who also want to dictate to us all what we should do and think. Imagine that both of these groups having the same common thread. They all wanna tell us how we should live our lives.

It was PB's term, cradle.

He was describing those fellow Trump supporters who he knows in Florida, people proud to called REDNECKS. He described them in what he thought were glowing terms, a set of descriptions he labelled as attributes of "true conservatives".

In contrast, long list of 'conservatives' described as RINO's or former RINO's, or worse pejoratives...because they actually remain conservative...and reject Trumpism.

There is also a long list of conservatives who support Trump and worship him. I can ask the question, how do you then define a "good" conservative as opposed to a "bad" conservative? I'm a fiscal conservative first and foremost and there is NO conservative out there that represents me. These so called conservatives are spending money just like the FLP folks they lecture everybody about.

hey, I didn't call them "good" or "bad" much less describe you as such.

This was PB's term and he had a long list of attributes of the "true conservative" that on the surface sound positive, but when you look under the hood? Not so much.

What I would say is that Trumpism is most definitely not 'conservative' in any sort of sense.
It's populist extremism, the opposite of 'conservative'.

It doesn't matter whether populist extremism is from the left or the right, it's not 'conservative'.

Populist extremism is all about rapid change based on the passions of the moment.

What we are seeing among many politicians as well as voters is Red Team vs Blue Team alignments rather than 'liberal' vs 'conservative'.

And to be Red Team, the reality is that you must be 'loyal' to Trumpism, whatever he says that means in the moment. You must constantly praise him, never oppose him. He, in turn, takes his cues from right wing media, particularly the more extreme elements of that media, as to what is playing well to that base, a reinforcement of the extreme.

None of that is 'conservative.

Which is why you have seen 'conservative' GOP members, Tea Party members, toss caution to the winds with massive tax cuts at the same time as massive increases in spending...and that was pre CV-19.

Holy smokes, I am agreeing with at least 90% of what your saying. Trump is not a conservative. He is as far from being a conservative as a person can be. There are alot of conservatives that love tax cuts. When your debt is increasing a trillion dollars a year, tax cuts should not be in the picture.

Two simple litmus tests for what "conservative" was supposed to mean pre-Trump: favoring (1) balanced budgets and (2) free trade.

Trump has blown both of those out of the water (and did so pre-C19), yet 90% of supposed "conservatives" still back him.

Which to me says that (1) and (2) were really cover for something else all along.
