The problem is the proximity, the lack of PPE.
You mentioned measures need to be put into place before we can return to work. What measures?

You are sandbagging, setting up the "lack of PPE's", as one of the "measures", aren't you? You sly lil Frat boy.

Well, we can't return to work, if we don't have enough PPE's, now can we.

SO.......more stay at home.

without a doubt, when the HiNI hit the USA, social distancing really worked ?

Just curious, Bill Gates, and lots of other Medical communities, actually used this VERY virus, for an exercise. Only problem is, not reading Social Distancing as part of the solution. In fact, in recommendation #3, Bill Gates does the exact opposite. You can't make this turd up. ANd suddenly, 6 months later, the DOCS and medical community has a 180 degree playbook? Do you understand this? It's bizarre. Suddenly, we should LISTEN to this kind of useless advice? put down the fecesbook, social media........debate like an educated person.

Countries, international organizations, and global transportation companies should work together to maintain travel and trade during severe pandemics. Travel and trade are essential to the global economy as well as to national and even local economies, and they should be maintained even in the face of a pandemic. Improved decision-making, coordination, and communications between the public and private sectors, relating to risk, travel advisories, import/export restrictions, and border measures will be needed. The fear and uncertainty experienced during past outbreaks, even those limited to a national or regional level, have sometimes led to unjustified border measures, the closure of customer-facing businesses, import bans, and the cancellation of airline flights and international shipping. A particularly fast-moving and lethal pandemic could therefore result in political decisions to slow or stop movement of people and goods, potentially harming economies already vulnerable in the face of an outbreak. Ministries of Health and other government agencies should work together now with international airlines and global shipping companies to develop realistic response scenarios and start a contingency planning process with the goal of mitigating economic damage by maintaining key travel and trade routes during a large-scale pandemic. Supporting continued trade and travel in such an extreme circumstance may require the provision of enhanced disease control measures and personal protective equipment for transportation workers, government subsidies to support critical trade routes, and potentially liability protection in certain cases. International organizations including WHO, the International Air Transport Association, and the International Civil Aviation Organization should be partners in these preparedness and response efforts.
Yes, more stay at home until we have the rest in place. It's not rocket science, fatty.

I don't know why I bother but the chances of winning Mega Millions is 1 in 302 million.
The chance dying due to CV-19 is already proven to 30,000:360million = 1 in 12,000 and dropping. Hopefully won't get to 1 in 100's.

But hey, if you want to get it, go ahead down to the hospital and hang out in the ER without a mask. If it's so safe to do so...go ahead.

a fan wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2020 2:23 pm Old Salt himself has said many times that Trump is unfit for office. So for heaven's sake, wouldn't you expect MORE criticism headed his way when that's the case?
It's useless. It's not going to remove him from office. There's nothing I can say that multiple others have not ?
That's fine, but that didn't keep you from discussing and criticizing Obama every day for 8 years. No one gave you grief when you did that, and say "why are you doing this? He's not going to be removed from office you know?"

We talk about...and criticize.... our leaders and our government here.

Do you think criticism will shut off for Biden, if he wins?

 I sure don't.
I tried to give him grief......but....got censored. ;)

Not to be quippy, but aren't we ALL supposed to criticize the President, no matter who it is? You admitted, yourself, that you criticized Obama. About many, many different things. Could not, if looked at with certain glasses, YOU never stopped. So, as you stated, it our RIGHT to criticize the POTUSA.

And , you turn around, and criticize someone for doing something that you agree they should be doing. You said so. (above)
I didn't criticize him for criticizing Obama. I was poking fun at old salt's insistence that criticizing Trump is pointless "because" he won't leave office. But he criticized Obama, who also would never leave office, with glee.

This is Inconsistent, and silly.

Hoping to stem the torrent of false cures and conspiracy theories about COVID-19, Facebook announced Thursday it would begin informing users globally who have liked, commented on, or shared “harmful” misinformation about the coronavirus, pointing them instead in the direction of a reliable source.

“We want to connect people who may have interacted with harmful misinformation about the virus with the truth from authoritative sources in case they see or hear these claims again,” said Guy Rosen, Facebook’s Vice President for Integrity, in a blog post published early Thursday.

Under Facebook’s new policy, when a piece of “harmful” coronavirus-related misinformation has been debunked by its fact checkers, and removed from the site, all users who have interacted with it will be shown a message in their news feed
directing them to the WHO’s list of debunked claims.

Yup. Stay away from Facebook. Why anyone would chose to get their information from these guys is beyond me.
I have never been on it (other than to watch a Facebook live interview once) and follow lacrosse stuff, the economist and a microbiologist on twitter. Plenty of other ways to get info without traveling in tripe.
on facebook. rarely post. comment here and there. nowadays, i get on every day to see what folks are up to, sometimes several times. before corona maybe every other. on it for the connection to folks that have been through my life who otherwise would fade away. yeah, it's virtual, but still.

All counties SW (but near) of Albany, GA except Dougherty, of which Albany is the county seat. Home to one of the early breakout areas in USA.

When I lived in Tallahassee (thirty years ago) best route to Atlanta and north was through Albany - I would rather travel on good secondary roads than I-75...

“By what authority did you nullify the Bill of Rights in issuing this order?” Carlson asked the governor, citing constitutional protections for freedom association and religious practice.

“That’s above my pay grade, Tucker,” Murphy responded. “I wasn’t thinking of the Bill of Rights when we did this. …

Seems to me these bureaucrats take an oath to "Protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Look out boys from here on out—The constitution doesn't even enter into their thought process and they're unafraid to tell us so.
100% moronic bull shirt. Which Carlson knows, but that would get in the way of his ratings and paycheck.

ZERO legal issue with this. ZERO.

Content neutral and sect-neutral health/safety regulations are completely legal. Tucker, unlike even the dumbest law school student ever, manages to answer this question incorrectly.

How easily you relinquish you're rights just to defeat Trump.

21 million unemployed
small businesses destroyed
livelihoods extinguished
futures ruined
religious freedom obstructed
freedom of assembly negated
bureaucrats who swore to uphold and defend the constitution—saying it never entered into thought process.
No - relinquishing rights to keep a whole lot of Americans alive. That is why I am doing it, at least.
Whoa, what "rights" did you relinquish, red?
I haven't relinquished any at all.

I still have the right be an a-hole if I want and even to endanger others.
Might have to pay a fine if I do, but how many fines have actually been paid?

from the CDC

While the impact of flu varies, it places a substantial burden on the health of people in the United States each year.

CDC estimates that influenza has resulted in between 9 million – 45 million illnesses, between 140,000 – 810,000 hospitalizations and between 12,000 – 61,000 deaths annually since 2010.

Guess you don't care about those 60K deaths annually. You're really exercising tyour right to be an a-hole

Who are you keeping alive? And, roughly, how many?

So sick of these opinions being thought of as facts.

Shouldn't it be MY choice to hike up Tuckermans Ravine? you won't be there, so why do YOU care what I do.

there is NO evidence that social distancing is "working".

Test everyone in the USA. EVERYONE. you guys want to do that.

should this be on your resume, now. Tested Positive for V-19, on March 22, 2020. Mild symptoms. Negative tests on April 14th, & 25.

Or, will the covid "star" go right next to the other one on your REALID
