All of these old people are dying of the flu unless you test the corpse for Covid. Never mind the other 5 dead bodies in the home tested positive a few days before.

Sweden up to 89 deaths per 1M pop. The other country that tried the laid back herd approach (for a short time) was UK -- up to 156 per pop. You could move there too if you are trying to avoid totalitarian fear porn conspiracies.

Scoreboard from the fear porn/conspiracy countries: USA 67, Denmark 47, Norway 24, Finland 10.

And Austria (39), Denmark (47) and the Czech Republic (13), having seized their citizens' civil liberties conspiratorially with fear porn, appear to be freely giving those liberties back now. They are starting to lift their lock downs while Sweden appears to be finally getting around to imposing one.

Personally, I'm considering a move to Finland. "Pantsdrunk" sounds like a lot of fun, and it seems to keep the Covid at bay!!

Canada has 24,383 cases of the coronavirus and 717 deaths. Quebec being hit the hardest followed by Ontario.

Canada is the type of nation where people don’t cross the street until the light turns green. So SD and stay at home is likely to be much more effective there than here.

Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)
We will provide a taxable benefit of $2,000 a month for up to 4 months to eligible workers who have lost their income due to COVID-19.

Anthony Fauci admits earlier Covid-19 mitigation efforts would have saved more American lives

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/antho ... n?ocid=sf2

Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that calls to implement life-saving social distancing measures faced "a lot of pushback" early in the US coronavirus outbreak and that the country is now looking for ways to more effectively respond to the virus should it rebound in the fall."I mean, obviously, you could logically say that if you had a process that was ongoing and you started mitigation earlier, you could have saved lives," Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" when asked if social distancing and stay-at-home measures could have prevented deaths had they been put in place in February, instead of mid-March.

"Obviously, no one is going to deny that. But what goes into those decisions is complicated," added Fauci, who is a key member of the Trump administration's coronavirus task force. "But you're right, I mean, obviously, if we had right from the very beginning shut everything down, it may have been a little bit different. But there was a lot of pushback about shutting things down back then."

Like I've said before, the blood of all those innocent Americans is in the hands of that traitor-in-chief.

Some context for jhu's comment. Hannity, Ingraham and others in addition to Trump can't be happy. This is unlikely to end well. I would be surprised if we don't at the very least start seeing less and less of Dr. Fauci in Trump's upcoming briefings. I also imagine we will be hearing what the good doctor thinks of choices being made going forward regardless.

California is one of the few bright spots in this crisis. If we were to separate from the rest of the nation, we would instantly become one of the great nations of the world. Alas, it is our fate to help save the rest of the nation from Trump and the Party of Stupid.

A little gratitude from the Trump cult would be nice, but that’s probably too much to ask for.

It appears the Covid 19 has been here in the US for months.

The virus was freewheeling in our community and probably has been here for quite some time,” Dr. Jeff Smith, a physician who is the chief executive of Santa Clara County government, told county leaders in a recent briefing.

How long? A study out of Stanford suggests a dramatic viral surge in February.

But Smith on Friday said data collected by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, local health departments and others suggest it was “a lot longer than we first believed” — most likely since “back in December.”

“This wasn’t recognized because we were having a severe flu season,” Smith said in an interview. “Symptoms are very much like the flu. If you got a mild case of COVID, you didn’t really notice. You didn’t even go to the doctor. The doctor maybe didn’t even do it because they presumed it was the flu.”

Just as New York has strong ties to travelers from Europe, who are believed to have brought the coronavirus there from Italy, the Bay Area is a natural hub for those traveling to and from China.

Seriously not meaning to be contentious, Kra, (with the caveat that my wife out here in Cali has been suspecting for a while that she may have had something similar throughout the month of February) but why, if this widespread infection actually was Covid, hasn't it ravaged the vulnerable population (including myself) here like it has in NY? We spend 6 months a year in Palm Springs, a city with one of the most geriatric and, one would suspect looking around, health challenged populations in the country. Prior to the shutdown, people from the Bay area and LA were coming here in droves. We are now shut down tight as a drum, but if there was an unattended strain of Covid making the rounds before the shutdown it would seem we would have been having our health system overwhelmed weeks ago instead of having the 30 case 5 death scenario going on when I last heard the numbers a day or two ago.

Anyway, just some food for thought in response to your article, which may well turn out to be correct. Perhaps it was a less virulent strain of the virus that arrived here and established some herd immunity. We aren't going to know until testing is exponentially more available. In the meantime we can only hope that the horrendous infection rate affecting NY, NJ, Michigan and a few other hot spots (some in some very odd out of the way locations) does somehow miraculously abate without cropping up elsewhere. Here is wishing good health to all.

Absolutely damning. Trump’s fatal delays in responding to the coronavirus crisis will go down as one of the most catastrophic failures in presidential leadership in American history.

I almost hope that Trump does fire Fauci. Maybe that will free Fauci to speak his mind more freely.

I am not among those who believe Fauci has done a good job in this crisis. He should be screaming at the top of his lungs about the lack of testing (we should be doing at least a million tests a day, not 100,000-200,000). He should be absolutely livid about the shortage of PPEs. Fauci should be demanding a stoppage of all discussion about opening up the economy until this pandemic is under control.

Fauci has done none of that.

So, Fauci finally states the obvious and acknowledges that earlier action could have saved American lives, and Trump threatens to fire him?

If Trump fires Fauci, then I think that would be a sign that Fauci is finally doing his job.

When the final account of this pandemic is written, I don’t think Dr. Fauci will fare very well. He could have been a much more vocal critic of the continuing slow response ... he seems too concerned at times about keeping his job and his seat at Trump’s table.

When our government has a reasonable plan going forward, and the materials to execute the plan.

We don't have enough ANYTHING right now. PPE, masks, thermometers, Covid tests, and on and on.

I promise you that even the biggest libertarian governor in the country (and I have no clue who that is) understand this, and knows doggone well that we can't get moving without those things, coupled with a cohesive plan going forward.

There is no plan. And we don't have the materials needed to execute the plan.

Picture what happens when we have to choose whether or not to open schools/Universities this fall. Better have a vaccine by then, is all I have to say.
Six months away.....
we'll have ppe and masks. thermometers, i'd guess too.
tests? questionable at best. doesn't seem to be the priority it should. maybe rhetoric and it changes.
seems there is a real pent up demand to get back out there now and it's april 12. think of what that would be in may given the velocity of this.
republicans, those in need of making their living with expedience, young folks who are teflon vs this virus...

it is not all coming back immediately as was, but i suspect given green lights by anyone some large group of folks are jumping.
I am convinced that testing is not a priority for Trump because he fears that more testing will cause the infection and death numbers to spike ... and he is probably right about that.

That means Trump cares more about “the numbers” than saving lives. Anyone deny that?

Or let’s put it this way ... if Trump could choose between his reelection and saving 50,000 American lives ... does anyone really believe he would care much about the 50,000 dead? How about 100,000? 250,000? A million dead?

Trump just doesn’t care about the dead and dying. Those numbers only mean something in the context of his reelection.

And once we understand that, then it becomes clear why Trump isn’t trying to increase testing. As long as deaths are not attributed to coronavirus, he could care less.

Shameful, your response is.

I want to figure out what is going on. You don't. You don't want to debate the 100% certainty that social distortion IS working. 100%.

Comments like tinfoil hat are below you. At this point, you like a bully.

When I , and probably a few more, were SHOCKED, seriously, I was shocked to read this thread and its comments. One of the reasons why I don't take this "pandemic" seriously. Because the collective YOU don't. tRump bashing? Umm, we all get it. The little information posted here, helpful as it is, is jaded and overshadowed by the stupid comments about how much he sticks. Ummm....we ALL get it. 4 years in......just stop.

Meanwhile, I have posted documents from the agencies we provide money, the ones that are supposed to help it's citizens. You know, the budget expenditures, for a purpose. NONE of them stressed the 100% certainty that Social Distortion would even work. The experts. Provided many, many links where the experts are saying this.

Bill gates donating $100 million to "study" or "solve" the problem is a joke. That is like you and me giving someone a dollar. He's worth , what, 60-70 BILLION ? Why not donate TEN BILLION to help solve the problem, mr. I am going to give it all away (giving pledge) Oh really, when? Dude is how old? What is he waiting for. stuff like that.

If people are doing social distortion, why do they need alcohol based lotions to rub on their hands if they stay at home all the time. Oh, stockpiling?

Your comment is shallow. tRumplike. Unhelpful. Have a nice life.

Efficiency and progress is ours once more
Now that we have the Neutron bomb
It's nice and quick and clean and gets things done
Away with excess enemy
But no less value to property
No sense in war but perfect sense at home:

The sun beams down on a brand new day
No more welfare tax to pay
Unsightly slums gone up in flashing light
Jobless millions whisked away
At last we have more room to play
All systems go to kill the poor tonight

Gonna
Kill kill kill kill Kill the poor:Tonight

Behold the sparkle of champagne
The crime rate's gone
Feel free again
O' life's a dream with you, Miss Lily White
Jane Fonda on the screen today
Convinced the liberals it's okay
So let's get dressed and dance away the night

Remember the neutron bomb? What type of person would actually develop such a weapon. ? exactly.
