The most dangerous contagion we now confront is the coronavirus, which has killed more than 20,000 Americans and thrown more than 16 million out of work. The second-most-dangerous contagion is the conspiracy-mongering, hostility to science and outright irrationality promulgated by President Trump and his loudmouth media enablers. It will take intensive contact tracing to follow the spread of crackpot ideas: Is Trump infecting the cable news hosts, or are they infecting him? Suffice it to say, the president and his media fans are both afflicted with perilous misconceptions that are making the threat from the coronavirus far more acute.

The government of China has distributed masks to its 1.4 billion citizens and it gives some to overseas Chinese as well:

At least a dozen are given to students in Singapore. You have to wonder if that country supply all those people with masks, why can't the USA do the same to its citizens where the population is so much smaller?

We’ve come full circle on all the “information.” And regardless of the news and how it breaks or evolves now-social distancing, testing, modeling, preparedness, travel bans- WHO honesty, China’s honesty, what DRs know, when they knew it, the news has swung both ways on all of these issues. And regardless of what the experts say today- It was wrong. We swear. There is only one fall guy. Trump.
They have laid the whole pandemic on Trump’s shoulders. At least that’s their thesis. They are now crossing their fingers that it sticks and it motivates people to come out and vote for an otherwise completely uninspiring Biden.
And immediately below your post comes DocB with yet another ‘the epidemic and all its faults lie with Donald John Trump’.

Yup, clinicians are classifying respiratory hang nails as COVID-19. This is not unique to COVID-19. It has always been this way, with even long known causes of death. The most reasonable "evidence based" cause of death. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, its a duck.runrussellrun wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 12:09 pmDeaths?
This is from the CDC itself:
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvss/coro ... deaths.pdf
Should “COVID-19” be reported on the death certificate only with a confirmed test? COVID-19 should be reported on the death certificate for all decedents where the disease caused or is assumed to have caused or contributed to death. Certifiers should include as much detail as possible based on their knowledge of the case, medical records, laboratory testing, etc. If the decedent had other chronic conditions such as COPD or asthma that may have also contributed, these conditions can be reported in Part II. (See attached Guidance for Certifying COVID-19 Deaths)
With this "knowledge", you trusting the death count numbers, based on the CDC's recommendations to just, essentially, "wing it" ?
Enough of your silly sophomoric nilistic sophistry. Grow up.

Responsibility always goes to the top. The fact that the idiot trump refuses to accept responsibility for inexcusably failing to heed the many warnings he was given and for granting visas to those who brought in virus contamination is a sign of utter stupidity on his part and on those who defend him. Yup. Those righties sure like to see their Republican regimes through rose colored glasses. More American embassy employees die under Bush who started 2 needless wars in which he killed off thousands of innocent Middle Easterns. This because he suddenly got an epiphany where he hears the golden voice of God and is inspired to kill in his name. But we need to forget all that according to the righties because Benghazi is so much more important. Yeah, those delusional right wingers sure are a funny lot.

Interesting article on the attempts to ramp up testing, the implementation of which I see as a critical element in restoring this country to relative health and fiscal normalcy as rapidly as possible. With Abbot currently producing only 50,000 cartridges a day it will take forever to get back to a normal state. I would propose the government focus on finding a way to facilitate increasing that production by a factor of 100.
