of course, it does explain quite a lot.
Suppose it'll take quite some time for that stigma to die, but whatever.
Meanwhile, alcohol use is just fine and acceptable...even promoted and encouraged.

You should let pensioneers, 401k holders, and general stock market investors know about all your negative news; it's up another 2.5% today. What are those morons thinking!!!!
You are just as bad as the president (apparently your hero) who thinks the entire economy is the stock market.

nah, seriously, I don't have any issue with pot.
Never tried it myself as I saw it screw up some athletes, and I had a very strong aversion to smoking anything due to watching grandparents cough and hack their way to death.
Certainly am a fan of medical usage, it helped my dad down the final stretch.

Also seen alcohol screw up a heck of a lot of people, part of why I'm quite careful myself.

I don't think any of these substances should be able to mass advertise, they should be controlled, behind the counter, etc, but available to adults.

Gonna be difficult to put that genie back in the bottle with alcohol, so I'd take no mass advertising.

But then again, I'd really, really like to see us tax sugar hard and likewise not allow advertising of sugar, processed carb, and salty processed carb foods. If it's horrible for our public health, you can consume it if you wish, but why should we allow companies to encourage us to do so?

Are we willing to 'belly up' to do what's actually best? I doubt it.

the occasional update on ongoing hcl/z pak trial at hospital in france.
1646 control group. 47 deaths. 2.8%.
2285 hcl/z pak group... 10 deaths. 0.4%.
is it randomized double blind, at various stages, one stage, yada... no idea. haven't been able to find any details. just the numbers, largest study i've seen.
shanghai, south korea, china india, brazil, more recently spain, italy.... all used it to some degree, some aggressively. we have here of course, too. hope at the very least with so many possibilities and smart people we come out of the next month with something that can be deemed effective in treatment, especially given that we no doubt will have a quick trigger on changing up the rules here on mitigation.
i suspect many candidates are being ramped up in production already if they have any kind of real hope.

What is the point of this response? Do you not know you sound like a moron?

The point is, the resident Dems here post a ton of doomsday drek, but the market doesn’t seem to agree. So either Fanlax has the 7 smartest soothsayer posters ever, who happen to love lacrosse, or maybe your squad is rather feeble minded. I guess we’ll know by November.

Great show.

Season 3 of Killing Eve will drop on Hulu on April 12. Seasons 1 and 2 were very good.

Depends on his medical profile. It might also make things worse. Chris Cuomo didn’t take it because of immune system issues.

The U.S. Approach to Public Health: Neglect, Panic, Repeat

Time to give new life to an old idea: A strong public health system is the best guarantor of good health.

A once-in-a-century public health crisis is unfolding, and the richest country in the world is struggling to mount an effective response. Hospitals don’t have enough gowns or masks to protect doctors and nurses, nor enough intensive care beds to treat the surge of patients. Laboratories don’t have the equipment to diagnose cases quickly or in bulk, and state and local health departments across the country don’t have the manpower to track the disease’s spread. Perhaps worst of all, urgent messages about the importance of social distancing and the need for temporary shutdowns have been muddied by politics.

Nearly all of these problems might have been averted by a strong, national public health system, but in America, no such system exists.
