Maryland 2020
Re: Maryland 2020
Former Maryland commit and Terp legacy; Yale freshman BJ Burlace is in the portal. Was best defender in the MIAA last year and #6 freshman. Would be a big get if they could bring him back in the fold https://twitter.com/tyxanders/status/12 ... 2739588097
Re: Maryland 2020
His younger brother committed to Yale this past fall. Have to wonder if he will be opening up his commitment.jrn19 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 9:49 am Former Maryland commit and Terp legacy; Yale freshman BJ Burlace is in the portal. Jack Brennan & Daniel Maltz were named to the @College_Crosse All-Freshmen team today

Only four games in but hadn't seen the field. Was he injured?AreaLax wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 10:11 amHis younger brother committed to Yale this past fall. Re: Maryland 2020
I thought Maltz should have been a bit higher. He had his big games against Penn and Notre Dame.

Colin Burlace '21, D, St. Mary's (Md.) / @FCA_MD_Lax switched from @YaleLacrosse to @TerpsMLax. A tremendous 1-on-1 cover man whose father, Bubba, won the Schmeisser at UMD
Re: Maryland 2020
The Terps really needed to add a quality defenseman to the 2021 class, as they had no defensemen in the class, so this is a big addition.
Colin Burlace joins St.Mary's goalie Wes Schmidt in the 2021 class.

Re: Maryland 2020
I suppose it's only a matter of time before the brothers Burlace are both suiting up for the Terps. If so, they'll make one heckuva tandem on the defensive end.

Re: Maryland 2020
With Malever and Kelly coming in, plus Maltz and potentially Long ahead of him at his position, Wisnauskas maybe being around for an extra year, and he was already behind N. DeMaio amongst reserve freshmen....not a surprise at all. Just not any room for him. He's talented, he'll wind up at a good spot.
Re: Maryland 2020
The only seniors we have heard of returning for PSU or OSU were all starters.
The Terps only have 2 senior starters: Bernhardt and Grill. So in the end it might be just a few seniors who stay on for the extra year.

Re: Maryland 2020
I don't expect that reserves or depth guys choose to stay on. Maybe they use the extra year to go to teams outside the Top 20 for more playing team, but depth guys aren't going to be coming back for another year unless they just really love college. But a lot of the starters seem very likely to be coming back.
Re: Maryland 2020
Agree about the Sr reserve or depth players. If they were freshman at Maryland then they already have a championship ring. Besides Bernhardt and Grill the only other player maybe Welding, who look to be heading towards a red-shirt year away for a lower body injury.jrn19 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2020 11:54 pmI don't expect that reserves or depth guys choose to stay on. Re: Maryland 2020
With Burlace now officially official, I'd expect him to start at close for the Terps next year. Listed as an LSM, but he can play close too and that's probably the more pressing spot. However the dude is absolutely crazy good with the ball in his stick for a long pole, so I gotta imagine they give him chances to push it in transition too

jrn all your signs were correct. Good call. His highlights are insane; weird that he couldn't step into a game for Yale.jrn19 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 3:57 pm With Burlace now officially official, I'd expect him to start at close for the Terps next year. Re: Maryland 2020
Yale generally doesn’t let their poles run in transition a lot, may not have been a great system fit. Though I’d say a guy that talented can play in any system, let him do what he does. Maybe he wasn’t quite ready though. Another year and I expect he will be though, just too much talent there to not excel.keno in reno wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 4:50 pmjrn all your signs were correct.
