Astonishing our friends on the left would prefer people die than use the "SNAKE OIL" Trump says is hopeful. True TDS

Dr. Oz this morning said his staff has been running big data from hospitals health insurance companies and other sources. 100 million people. They identified 11,000 rheumatoid arthritis and lupus patients on a regular regimen of Hydroxychloroquine. Not one had tested positive for Coravid-19. Hes interviewing another physician (Mt.Sinai I think) today thats been prescribing the drug for decades. NOT A SINGLE side effect.
I am not calling it snake oil, but it is only "proven" to work anecdotally - which means it fails basic scientific rigor (selection bias, controlled trials, etc).

From WebMD (for hydroxychloroquine):
Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, dizziness, or headache may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: slow heartbeat, symptoms of heart failure (such as shortness of breath, swelling ankles/feet, unusual tiredness, unusual/sudden weight gain), mental/mood changes (such as anxiety, depression, rare thoughts of suicide, hallucinations), hearing changes (such as ringing in the ears, hearing loss), easy bruising/bleeding, signs of infection (such as sore throat that doesn't go away, fever), signs of liver disease (such as severe stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine), muscle weakness, unwanted/uncontrolled movements (including tongue/face twitching), hair loss, hair/skin color changes.

This medication may cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Tell your doctor right away if you develop symptoms of low blood sugar, such as sudden sweating, shaking, hunger, blurred vision, dizziness, or tingling hands/feet. If you have diabetes, be sure to check your blood sugars regularly. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication.

Get medical help right away if you have any very serious side effects, including: severe dizziness, fainting, fast/irregular heartbeat, seizures.

This medication may cause serious eye/vision problems. The risk for these side effects is increased with long-term use of this medication and with taking this medication in high doses. Get medical help right away if you have any symptoms of serious eye problems, including: sensitivity to light, vision changes (such as light flashes/streaks, blurred vision, difficulty reading, missing areas of vision).

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), dizziness, trouble breathing.

This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Just to give you one example about the "reports" that no one that this particular doctor knows has come down with CV - the fact that a patient has lupus means they are at severe risk should they get it. So they may be taking a whole lot of precautions to avoid it. Kind of messes up the data...you just don't know the real answer.

There is a reason the drug approval process is hard. A lot of people's lives depend on it. Now, granted this drug has already been approved. The question is whether it is effective. That requires real data, and anecdotes are actually not useful. And more importantly, there may be other drugs out there that are more or even much more effective in treatment (assuming this drug is found to be effective). The process to see that is just as important...
Another point this "quack" makes. There are anecdotal studies all over the globe with similar positive results—One study in France had 1000 patients. Enough so that you can't call them anecdotal in their entirety any longer.

Please no one is saying this is the only answer. But Its obvious the objection to this drug is that Trump has stepped behind it. Thats ALL TDS

Trumps response to the 100th accusatory question about this drug was—Look I'd love to wait a year, year and half for the trials but we don't have 2 hours.

Actually you can. Because there are not any controlled trials, you don't have the differential of using/not using correctly figured out. There may be other things a particular group is doing in treating patients with CV, and those are just as important or even more important than this drug.

It is not an accident that much of the advertising for vitamins and food supplements (drug ads have more restrictions) use anecdotes quite often to show how good they are. Completely skips over the fact that for many those items may be entirely useless...

So how did Dr. Oz get computer access to BIG DATA that hasn't been entered into any national anonymized computer data base??

Interesting change in the IHME model for South Carolina:

Before the gov announced a more stringent stay at home order (still not very strict, but better than it was) the predictions were around 1000 deaths for the state. Now under 500 (of course there are also more changes to the model which lowered numbers everywhere). But that is a big change.

New study came out a couple of days ago showing hydroxychloriquine and azithromycin have no effect on patients with severe COVID-19 infections.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... via%3Dihub

Looks like more study is needed on this - it seems like it's still up in the air whether it may or may not help patients with mild symptoms who would get over the disease on their own.

In financial news, 3M stock is down 20% since the first patient tested positive for COVID-19 in the US.

Well bust my buttons. This explains a few things.

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus won his 2017 election with China’s backing.

Tedros is now providing cover for China’s propaganda campaign denying responsibility for the outbreak.

Tedros praised China’s “transparency” and said China’s response to the virus was a model for other nations,
though China tried to cover up the virus’s outbreak and silenced whistleblowers.

Tedros is the first-ever WHO chief not to be a medical doctor and was accused of covering up
three different cholera epidemics as Ethiopia’s health minister.

I assume the study finds no effect over and above azithromycin acting by itself.

Fox network liars are now pretending they never downplayed the virus danger:

Funny how they are now saying it was the Dems who downplayed it. As always, those reich wing clowns can never take responsibility for anything.

Maybe the problem was all the need for "reading" and the presence of all those words and stuff?

https://www.axios.com/exclusive-navarro ... 382a9.html

First warning January 29. Second written warning on February 23: ""There is an increasing probability of a full-blown COVID-19 pandemic that could infect as many as 100 million Americans, with a loss of life of as many as 1-2 million souls."

January 30 speech: "It's going to have a very good ending for us." Trump. In a Feb. 24 tweet, he said it was "very much under control" and that the stock market is "starting to look very good to me."

Still a tiny study - they did not report on that - only that the viral load clearance did not occur. (8/10 patients still had nasal swabs with virus present at day 5 or 6).

After watching MSNBC Morning Joe this morning (what a train wreck of a show), most folks like JHU72 wouldn't even understand what you're saying. Guys like Dan Rather et al are activist partisans, not capable of telling any story straight.

It's telling that whenever you hear the Media and Democrats get all antsy about anything, your first correct instinct should be to believe the exact opposite. This photo should explain it all:
