New research suggests that the virus could possibly be spread by talking or even breathing. Strengthens the case for all people wearing a mask.
Any day now, CDC is going to recommend masks for when people are out -- especially when in retail locations.

Wife went to Costco yesterday and they were handing out disposabe masks at the door. No mask-ee, no shop-ee. Crazy how exposed a cash register operator is. In an 8 hour shift, think of how many people are passing you by at less than 6 foot distance.

So here's how to cover your pie hole for your next trip out of the house. Takes less than 60 seconds. No sewing. Just need a square piece of cloth (t-shirt, pillow case, bandana, etc.) and two rubber bands. Re-use-able and washable. No impact on PPE and medical supply chain. If you want, you can take it to the next level and fold some kind of filtering paper into the business end.

Just heard a retelling of how The Kraft family sent their aircraft (usually used to move the Patriots) to CHINA to pick up a million masks and fly them back to Massachusetts at the request of the governor

WHO would wear a mask originating from CHINA the same place where the virus originated?

It’s amazing to see liberals here repost a map where the guy who put it up originally is absolutely getting slaughtered on Twitter, causing him to retract the original thesis. The real problem is finding liberals who are NOT filled with hate, rage, or snark against those they think are inferior to them.

UHHH, 3rd person, not sure liberals can wrap their brains around the idea that grocery stores and places of work in rural areas are often more than two miles away. Not everyone has access to a corner bodega.
UHHH, buddy, not sure you can wrap your brain around the idea that it's not a map of how far people travel. It's a map of overall travel of the same people one week vs. the week prior.

I'll try to put it in terms you can understand. If you normally travel 2 miles in a week going back and forth from your corner bodega and now you still travel 2 miles in a week, it's gonna be dark red. If you normally travel 100 miles in a week to the Family Dollar a county over and now travel 0, it's gonna be light gray.

Actually a really good mask can be made with two rubber bands, a paper clip, one shop towel (heavy duty paper towel), and a stapler:

Never let a crisis go to waste.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom told a press conference on Wednesday that the coronavirus crisis provided an opportunity to usher in “a progressive era” through policy changes that shift American society away from capitalism.

A reporter with Bloomberg News asked Newsom whether he saw “the potential, as many others in the [Democratic] Party do, for a new progressive era, if you want to call it that, in national politics and policy … and whether there’s the opportunity for additionally progressive steps … on the national and state level.”

The governor admittedly gave a long-winded answer which culminated in, “yes,” admitting there is political opportunity born out of the pandemic. “There is opportunity for reimagining a [more] progressive era as it [relates] to capitalism,” Gov. Newsom said. “So yes, absolutely we see this as an opportunity to reshape the way we do business and how we govern.”

Not anti mask. If you want to wear one wear one. I personally have no problem wearing one when I go out side.

But here is the question. I read the recent Nature article, googled new research air born corona virus. Article says the debate weather it is aerosolized (dont know if its a word but it sounds good in my head) or not is still in the air. If it is aerosolized does it still carry enough of a viral load to infect ect, ect. Really interesting article.

The question I have, perhaps Kramerica can answer as he seems to be on the technical side of it with materials. The masking that has been talked about here would seem to help on that droplet size particles, coughed or sneezed. The size of the aerosolized virus would seem to make this type of mask obsolete? Thanks.

Yup. People agreeing to share their GPS data when they install various apps on their phone. I think that map is using tracking data of 15 million people.

Not just FDR. Literally all presidents lie. Most every, if not every, politician lies. It's just a reality of the industry. With this said, Trump's lying is not like most anything we've seen before. Certainly in my life time. Politicians have had bigger lies. but in terms of how blatant the lies are and how often they're shared, Trump is off the charts.

6ft, talk to PB...he thinks you Trumpists are going to run to the left of D's and go all in for Medicare for All.

I do think we're all going to re-think what is "progressive" and government's role and responsibility in society.
We're likely to see all sorts of changes in perspective and behaviors.
I'm ok with that, as long as we continue to reward risk taking and creativity.

Sounds like Newsom answered honestly, not that this thought process is top of mind. He sounds quite focused on trying to manage the current trauma as the paramount issue in the short term. As he should.
