Well, when facts collide with OD's fantasies...I guess that might be mean (to Trump)!

Everything you say can be boiled down to one ingredient: you personally do not like Trump.
What other Republicans have forced you out? Larry Hogan is a Republican; you say you like him. Mitt Romney is a Republican; you say you like him, too. Mccain was a Republican til the day he died. Charlie Baker in MA. I can name many more like-minded R's who aren't going anywhere; they'll wait out 'Trump' and continue governing as they always have.
The only 'Republicans' who scream they have left the Republican Party are media clowns like Max Boot, Rick Wilson, and Ana Navarro, or dishonest political hacks like Evan McMullin and Joe Walsh, as unseemly a crew as you can find. No one is upset they are 'gone', because they were never there in the first place.
No one has 'pushed you'. You're walking out on your own accord.

I don't really have an opinion on George Will. He hates Trump, yet he loves Nikki Haley, who I positively adore. Hoping Nikki is the first female POTUS in the United States.

This is a deeper convo, but I don't really agree with your thesis. I think the 'populism' of the Republican Party is merely a rejection of what many considered to be the growing anti-America, anti-capitalist nature of some of the Democratic Party, fueled by the same people's perception of Republican leaders abetting those (historically) non-Republican values.
Let's also not forget that there's a growing populism in the Democratic Party now, personified by Bernie Sanders, and this is of course more of a traditional socialist economy and and an almost nihilistic approach to borders.
In both cases, voters feel like the political establishment has forgotten the voter. The populist ends of the two parties may have different touch points as regards private property, borders, the church, free speech, patriotism, and capitalism, but both share this gnawing sense that DC has forgotten them.
In any event, the populist wings are indeed part of the fabric of both parties. Trump's 'trumpism' is more a sentiment than an actual policy; his policies have for the most part been right up the Republian 'alley'.
Coronoavirus will change all of these historical policy choices however, as I think there will be a determination by both parties to embrace a medicare for all option for taxpayers, among other matters. My gut tells me that significant change other than just healthcare is also coming at us faster than we realize (our currency can withstand only so much printing...).

Open borders are a classic republican value - free movement of labor. (it also increases supply and lowers the price of labor).
Smaller government is a classic republican value.
Free markets, not trying to bully and even throw business towards friends, is a classic republican value.

As to your #1, yes, but life does change. I think now there is a sense among many Republicans (I will get roasted for saying this, but it's undoubtedly true that the 'sense' exists) that 'open borders' is no longer immigrants seeking a better future, but immigrants seeking a free lifestyle (not to mention some crime and a possible Democratic wave).
Smaller government. Again, yes historically and I'd argue all the way up until the last few weeks. Something will change here...this is seismic. Health care will be a right going forward.
Agree on 3rd.

Except he could have a cordial conversation with a democrat like Pat Moynihan or a Tom Daschle and achieve something other than wasting our trees producing oxygen.

You have me at a loss for words here. I can't compare Will to Trump, two totally different folks in my book. I don't believe that until it became necessary to him politically Trump was never a republican. He was probably never a democrat. he has always been what served him best at the moment. I do know that alot of powerful New York democrats happily took alot of his campaign cash. If you can explain to me why they didn't have a problem with the SOB back then... I'm all ears brotherFarfromgeneva wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:46 pmLike our president hasn't worked hard for a second of his life and pretends to speak for blue collar people and also military having dodged service himself?cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:37 pmNever been a George Will fan.

Re: Orange Duce
Bobby Grich, Cal Ripken and Boog Powell, my favorite Orioles and i watched all of them play. Never saw Brooks Robinson play in person but damn he could play 3rd base.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:50 pmcradleandshoot wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:46 pmAn Orioles fan, wow one more nail in his coffin in my book. My entire life the Orioles were the farm team for the Rochester Red Wings. i was always torn between the Orioles and the Yankees( my grandfathers team) i don't remember the name of their owner but he single handedly destroyed the Red Wings with his gutting the team of talent. That is when the Orioles stunk so bad we here in Rochester called them the borioles. Peter Angelos, that was his name.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:33 pmHe's okay in my book, big Orioles fan.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:01 pmThere is something about a guy that wears ugly bow ties that rubs me the wrong way. Yeah, I'm no fan of Angelos. The Albert Belle trade marked the death of the "Oriole Way".
George Will would agree...old school O's.
