Note: I was strongly in the camp that 'character matters' and that Clinton set a terrible example and should never have been elected, not once, not twice. And that the excuse "it was just sex" set a terrible precedent.
But, if you were in the slightest bit in that same camp re Clinton, it should be impossible to defend Trump's behavior and character.
And 'whataboutism' about nearly two decades ago is a very weak argument.

The Clinton's "apple pie" isn't "fresh" anymore, it has mold growing all over it. Throw it in the scrap heap, please.
I quite agree about Hillary and Bill; I just don't think they're in the slightest bit relevant to what we think of Donald and his lack of character.
But somehow the Trump apologists seem to think their duly elected POTUS isn't actually a piece of... Why? ...because ole Bill was a "horndog" too.
BTW, IMO, they're both much, much worse than just "horndogs".
But the one currently embarrassing us is Donald.

When Mattis visits the troops in Az he’ll be in Tucson, 90 miles from the border.

Our resident political Henny Youngman wannabe with another cute attempt at one-liner political humor. Here’s a tip - when visiting troops it’s best to go where they are. The troops sent to support this mission are based in Tucson and Sierra Vista, about 50 miles from Tucson by air/helo should he wish to visit both locations.Trinity wrote:When Mattis visits the troops in Az he’ll be in Tucson, 90 miles from the border.

Even if it were relevant, Tucson to the closest US Border Patrol office in Nogales,AZ via Interstate 19 is only 64 miles, but I get it. 90 miles sounds much farther away, and funnier, than 64.
Re: Who is supporting the immigrant caravan?
I was quoting some Republican guy named Flake who agreed it was a stupid stunt. I didn’t google the miles. It was a racist stunt that backfired gloriously. Trump lost Arizona, Nevada, all of California and some of Texas. Soros got his money’s worth.

The last sentence being tongue in cheek.
SClaxattack, I'm pretty sure Trinity wasn't making light of Mattis, who reportedly argued strenuously against the deployment, never considered the "caravan" an "invasion", thought the title was ridiculous, but was over ruled by the political genius in the Oval Office. And changed it as soon as he could post election. And, unlike the POTUS, he's actually bothering to visit the troops and talk to them as they prepare to miss Thanksgiving with their families...for what?
So, Trinity's not making fun of Mattis.
Just the crass stupidity of the deployment.

Posts and posts ago - while on Laxpower - I asked you to back up those posts of yours that appear to suggest fact rather than opinion with references, which you continue to seldom, if ever, do. That might ameliorate this in the future. Few of us here are as erudite, or have as much time, as you to know from where you quote or gather information to post.
And MD (sarcasm font now on), thanks for interpreting for me what Trinity really meant.

How about before we jump down someone’s throat, we give them the benefit of the doubt that they’re not totally clueless?
It appeared to me that you were offended on behalf of Mattis. If I was mistaken, cool, won’t be the last time I misunderstand someone.
Re: Who is supporting the immigrant caravan?
Acknowledging that the troops are being housed & staged at existing military bases near the border (with the same quality of life features they'd have at their home bases), undermines the political narrative that our poor soldiers are stuck out in the desert in tents, with nothing to do, eating MRE's on Thanksgiving.SCLaxAttack wrote:Our resident political Henny Youngman wannabe with another cute attempt at one-liner political humor. I'd much rather be at Davis-Mothan AFB than out in the desert at the National Training Center. I hope the troops brought their golf clubs.
Come 'on. Play along. Don't spoil the fun.

People were slaughtered in a synagogue because of this bogus caravan fear-mongering by Trump. The killer left a note. Trying to find a link to reality I can post for you boys.

I think I have been pretty consistent here. In terms of their behavior both Bill Clinton and Donald Trump are a couple of dirtwads. One exception... to my knowledge dirtbag Trump has never been accused of raping or sexually abusing a woman. Dirtbag Bill Clinton has been accused of this by a number of women. Dirtbag Trump likes to boff porn stars and high priced hookers that I believe he pays for their services. Dirtbag Clinton was defended of the accusations against him as being made by a bunch of slutbags that will surface if you drag a hunnah dollah bill thru a trailer park. You pick which morally reprehensible dirtbag rises above the other. Bill Clinton should thank his lucky stars that the # movement was 20 years past all the abusing of women that he allegedly did. Dirt bag Trump bragged about grabbing the by their genitals. Dirtbag Clinton apparently did gram them by their genitals... and then some. I get it, what Clinton did was sooooooo very long ago, not relevant today. Those genitals that were grabbed and women that were raped just no longer are relevant amongst the lilly white FLP elitist snobs that reside here on this forum. Its all about trump now it is not about bill. Yeah... I get that... Time heals all wounds after all.MDlaxfan76 wrote:Of course you did. Mattis cited the Gen Pershing -- Pancho Villa analogy. Well played.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/14/politics ... index.html
Mattis sought to distance the US military from the criticism that the President used the deployment to rev up his base prior to the election, emphasizing that the border mission is not unique in a historical context.
"There's nothing new under the sun," he said.
"I think many of you are aware that President Wilson 100 years ago, a little over a 100 years ago, deployed the US Army to the Southwest border. That's over a century ago. The threat then was Pancho Villa's troops, a revolutionary raiding across the border into the United States, New Mexico, in 1916 and there's a more recent history of DoD support on the border: It spans four administrations and both political parties," Mattis added.

As to Ivana’s accusation of rape, while as part of a settlement in their divorce where she was paid over $10 million she did sign a statement saying she didn’t mean to use the word “rape“ in the legal sense, she never retracted the underlying factual allegations (slammed her against a wall, forced himself upon her), which in any jurisdiction constitute rape.

Not for people who are rational. In what way are these people anything like armed revolutionaries?old salt wrote:Mattis cited the Gen Pershing -- Pancho Villa analogy. Well played.https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/14/politics ... index.html

I'm all for protecting our borders, but what Mattis' statements tells non-Trump fans is that our top military leaders either don't understand the situation at all, or are deliberately playing this situation up to Trump fans. Mattis just told armed nutjob White Americans that these people are invading revolutionaries.
Not exactly what I'd call picking your words carefully. I hope these words don't find a home in a nutjob's mind as he heads to the border, fully armed.
