The massive blow to the economy is a result of social distancing.
The social distancing is a result of the failure to have sufficient tests.
The failure to have sufficient tests is a result of Trump’s incompetence or unwillingness to acknowledge the threat.

Re: All things Chinese CoronaVirus
Jennifer Rubin in the wapo has some questions that the eventual Joint Congressional Coronavirus Committee will need to ask:
When was the president briefed?
What was he told about the coronavirus?
What steps did he take to prepare for the virus?
What other officials in the executive and legislative branches were aware of the threat? What did they do?
Why, until this week, was Trump downplaying the magnitude of the threat?
What precisely was the sequence of events that held up distribution of testing kits?
What resources were available that could have been tapped had governors, mayors and ordinary Americans understood the extent of the threat?
Who, if anyone, in government profited from advance knowledge of the threat?
What government structures or policies did the current administration make that impacted the response, either positively or negatively?
Why was the Defense Production Act not activated sooner?
Why were wealthy and famous individuals given tests when ordinary Americans still could not access them?

Yes, he should stop the daily appearances and happy talk and leave it to Pence and the other members of the task force. At least then we can mute when he starts kissing up. At least we spared the pompous SG and Carson today.
Did you notice Dr. Fauci reach up and touch his face (forehead) during one of DOPUS' biggest whoppers.

Fauci did that after Trump said "The Deep State Department". He even did his best to hold back a smile. Why did you tag it as a big whopper?Kismet wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 4:57 pmYes, he should stop the daily appearances and happy talk and leave it to Pence and the other members of the task force. A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

admin, there was a post yesterday (?) (the day before?) that the name of this thread was being changed to remove the word “Chinese.” The word disappeared for a while, but now is back. What gives?
How about if we simply call it the COVID-19 thread? Or maybe we could call it the “Trump coronavirus” thread for a few days to even things out. You know, since the virus was discovered during his presidency.

My 401(k) requests that POTUS be self-isolated to Mar-a-lago and that we just leave things to Pence (a former governor) instead.Yes, he should stop the daily appearances and happy talk and leave it to Pence and the other members of the task force.
How come the folks on the daily shirt show podium aren't standing six feet apart?
Boycott stupid. If you ignore the gator troll, eventually he'll just go back under his bridge.
Re: All things Chinese CoronaVirus
You know over on Faux News they have been spreading the story that libruls have been calling it the Trump virus for weeks. I have never heard or seen that until I spoke with one of my brain washed relatives. Certainly haven't seen that around here. You know, if you are going to be accused of the crime, maybe you should commit it.njbill wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 5:09 pm admin, there was a post yesterday (?) come on cradle, you need to read what I wrote...cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 4:29 pmWow, a life long Republican that loves FDR. You really are a strange creature. How many of your life long republican buddies have you shared this love affair with? Have you forgiven FDR for his imprisonment of Japanese/Americans. FDR was a deeply flawed POTUS. He was super secretive leader who never even told Truman about the Manhattan project. I suppose those warm and fuzzy fireside chats just melted your little ole republican heart.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 3:03 pmSure, but clearly you know very little actual history of how he managed that massive challenge. His answer to a legit question from a reporter of what he would tell those Amercans who are scared and worried tells us all we need to know about the lack of leadership coming from the top.
He's no FDR but actually thinking about how FDR ran things at a time of similar crisis is somewhat hopeful. Think about that - FDR remains inspiring even though he's DEAD but he remains that more so than the current DOPUS.
Unemployment averaged 18 percent during Roosevelt’s first eight years in office. Best President ever!
The absolute POS said he was hopeful. And that the total federal effort combined with American peoples cooperation was improving the situation. Thats all. Such a lack of leadership.
Both men say "stay hopeful" but the republican is a POS.
I grew up with grandparents who absolutely hated FDR. Said they didn't have any problem finding work...
so, I actually studied it.
But yeah, his leadership was really, really good.
Not a perfect President by any means though, certainly made a number of mistakes.
Complicated as many of the measures didn't have enough impact to actually get us out of the Depression...really the war preparations were what did it. But we also didn't dissolve into fascism nor communism.
Without his leadership, I think we'd have most likely been fascist.
I'm very thankful for that leadership.

Every time you respond to a post, or create a new post - change the subject. If the person who posted first goes into the first post and edits it I _think_ that changes it so when a reply is created (not quoting another post to start the reply) it will default to that.njbill wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 5:09 pm admin, there was a post yesterday (?) Anyone else but me think that Pence (excluding the Dear Leader parts) is actually doing pretty well? At least 10X better than Trump imho (low bar I know).
Do you disagree that Pence's toadying behavior is disgusting?
Folks are actually trying to compliment the guy, excluding the the toadying...

Right here! He's been great the few times I've seen him. Level headed, clear communicator. Gives concrete numbers and describes concrete actions, which is all we're looking for...what are you ACTUALLY doing to address the problem. Pence sounds a lot more like many of the governors that are doing pretty doggone good, considering.
