Hopefully other Cornell fans will find there way over here. Any word on who the Big Red might scrimmage this fall?

Well, we all knew it was just a matter of time.

Re: Cornell 2019
Some tidbits from PM's email of yesterday:
2019 schedule is being finalized and Coach expects it to be one of the most difficult in the country.
10/14 scrimmage vs. Maryland in Ithaca. Nice testing match up, but I wonder if there will be any more Fall Ball.
Hill Academy will be playing during the Eamon M. weekend. PM mentioned that we currently have 4 Hill graduates on the roster, and that there could me 4 or more on the way.

Nice to see we still have a lacrosse specific forum available. Thanks to whoever's responsible.
Some roster news: neither Andrew Fowler nor Austin Finger are listed on the roster. Fowler was a hot-shot recruit who never seemed to get traction last year. Fingar was injured all last year as a sophomore after getting some time in the midfield his freshman year. Don't know if they've transferred or are no longer playing college lacrosse.

I’m a new addition as well. Refugee from Laxpower that is hoping this forum gets traction. Long time Big Red fan with ties to the program. Looking forward to some great dialogue. VF.

Re: Cornell 2019
Does Maryland know how cold it can be in Ithaca in October? They don't like to play in the cold.

Re: Cornell 2019
laxjuris - good pick up on Fingar and Fowler.
-I had expected Fingar to compete for a 2nd line middie spot this season. A bit undersized, but he can play. I think I saw that his younger brother committed to another D1 school in the Spring. Perhaps he's transferred and they will play together (wish I could have said the same about the Ierlans).
-I saw Fowler play in Lake Placid along with several other incoming freshmen last (2017) summer. I assumed that he was injured and would return this season.

Re: Cornell 2019
What do you all think of our goalie situation for 2019? Do you think Ierlan can earn the starting job?

Re: Cornell 2019
Jeff Teat and Clarke Peterson came up short in the Minto Cup.
But Clarke Peterson, with a tremendous effort in the playoffs, came close to being player of the Minto cup tournament — that actually went to a goalie.
Look forward to season.

Perhaps but he'd have to earn it. Bullen is jr with his own credentials who showed very well last year. Either way, BigRed should be in good shape at goalieBandito wrote:What do you all think of our goalie situation for 2019? Do you think Ierlan can earn the starting job?

Culver ssdm, Sammy English, has flipped to Princeton. Too bad, English is a great player. He is the second Canadian/Culver recruit to make the same move. Jake Stevens is a very talented freshman mid for Princeton after decommitting from Cornell.

Re: Cornell 2019
Jack Stevens is ready made. Cornell will be fine though. A lot of good young players. I would have to make Cornell the Ivy League favorite heading into 2019.another fan wrote:Culver ssdm, Sammy English, has flipped to Princeton. Too bad, English is a great player. Re: Cornell 2019
Don't put much stock in these ratings, but 4 Cornell freshmen are in the IL top 100 freshmen:
Lombardi- 11
Ierlan-21
Fields- 55
Coyle 71

Re: Cornell 2019
#11 is nothing to sneeze at, but Lombardi could easily have been the top attackmen in the 2018 class. He dusted NE West defensemen for three years. I am not sure if anyone consistently went up against talent like that and still produced.
He did have a few injuries, but hopefully he can stay healthy the next four years.

Very good player. Softens the loss of Madronic to Harvard.DaneFan wrote:#11 is nothing to sneeze at, but Lombardi could easily have been the top attackmen in the 2018 class. Re: Cornell 2019
And 4 in the IL top 100 HS seniors:
10 Petrakis (probably the top fogo)
12 Long A
59 Blake M (reminds me of Fletcher-- big and fast)
94 Ciniglio D
Surprised LSM Boccafola not on the list.
Yale, Brown and Princeton are also doing great with their recruiting.

Re: Cornell 2019
Cornell and the rest of the Ivies are really stepping up their game. The league will be a dogfight for the foreseeable future, and we’re as well-positioned as anyone to make deep post-season runs.
