Feel horrible for the Ivy players, particularly guys like Sowers, but I don't think it'll be too long until the rest of the college landscape follows suit.

This situation is going to reverberate for years to come.

The NCAA? March Madness is still on sans fans. Why wouldn‘t lacrosse simply follow suit? I believe that the Ivy League pulled the plug all the way out too soon.

The Ivies had no choice as they have large proportion of students involved in athletics. Harvard supports 42 d1 teams; ~20% of all undergrads are athletes. At Dartmouth, its 25% of the undergrads who are athletes. Can't kick everyone out of the dorms by 5 pm Sunday (harvard), but then ask 20% to stay back. (yes, many of that 20% is out of season.)

Close down the teams, and no need for support staff as 100% of undergrads will be gone.

(And one big difference between teh top privates and publics is that the privates offer four-years on campus housing. Many/most? kids at the publics live off campus.)

I‘m referring to the season itself, not to the tournament. The SUNY system has decided to let sporting events go on but without fans. I‘m hoping that other schools/systems will follow suit.

I think we're going to see days, not weeks, of playing with just family in the stands.

But this thing is moving fast, so I suspect more and more schools will realize that they simply can't sustain the risks.

Hopkins seems to have eliminated all “admissions events” which I assume includes sports. Effective today they are moving to online instruction. Non essential travel is also prohibited. Someone want to check my reading?

I don't see how Hopkins can justify having their athletes and staff travel at the moment. With the school's standing in medicine/public health, I think at the very least they postpone the events in the coming weeks until the increase in cases slows down.
