let’s look at offense....excluding Townsend, we are averaging 9 points a game. That’s not helping us win. Bobby needs to get his Sh$@ together and mix it up. Change it up. They have more Players than the ones he continues to hope will start performing.
'Cuse pretty much took their foot off the gas after it was 10-4 at the half (should have been 11-3). They stopped pushing transition and held the ball in the second half. How often do you see an SU team do that? Murphy did look good in garbage time though.
We're beating a dead horse in this forum.
A loss to either Navy or Delaware and we might as well open up the 2021 thread.
So our defense could have been worse and you are happy with our offense performance??
I was blown away by the offense. Three goals in the first half. Wow! MSM here we come!!!!! Look out Big Ten! The Jays are a Juggernaut this year.

It’s like roadkill. Except it was at home.
What else is there to say? Perhaps the fanbase has simply stopped beating its head against the wall?
Hopkins has completed the first trimester of its regular season, and... it’s an abortion.

Hopkins is the best 1-4 team in the country!

(... because they are the only 1-4 team in the country.)

(D1. If I count D3... could be worse...)
congrats, fellas.

Question is this team worse than the 1971 edition that only won 3 times?

Can't wait to see the hype train once you all win your next 5 games. This forum will be way different.

I’ve seen lots of Hopkins lax over the past 60 years or so, but I really can’t compare this team to the 1971 team since I was living in Charlottesville then and didn’t get to Baltimore enough to see that edition of the BJs. This year’s team should get to three wins within the week, but it’s been—and is going to continue to be—a rough year.

Another point, IIRC: Where there not a bunch of Freshmen on the JV team that everybody on the boards were hyping, saying they could beat the Varsity?

I'm not sure what else can be said. This is likely the worst Hopkins team in 50 years or so.

I don't much care about playing young guys. Some of those guys are playing okay but Greeley and Ranagan, et al. played well in 2010 and they made the the playoffs and weren't blow out the door. Oh, and when those guys were seniors they missed the tournament. The class of 2005 that someone likes to talk about as being transformative played a lot as freshman and sophmores and they weren't getting their doors blown in...in fact, the 2005 class lost a grand total of 4 games when they were freshman and sophmores. It is a different time but not so much that the young players have displayed the same level of talent. Lots of teams are playing young guys. Look at PSU - they transformative class 2020 - has been contributing and playing since they were freshman (losing 4 games.)

If the team was coming off of a FF appearance after lots of guys graduated, I'd understand. But, the team is coming off a decade of obscurity. Having some young guys play okay is great but at the end of the day they aren't lifting the program to the necessary heights to mean this team will be a final four team next year or even the year after (one reason, if I was Espstein, I'd be looking at the transfer portal regardless of who the coach is next year). I think most of these guys talent is overblown much like the last 10 years.

You are what you are and this team stinks. It probably has one of the worst GF/GA differentials in the NCAAs.

some of these guys were bad last year and are bad again and continue to see the field. there's no accountability for onfield performance except for the goalie (briefly). you get a spot and unless you get hurt you keep it until you graduate regardless of performance.

fwiw all the "kids don't want to play at Hopkins because the fans are too mean and the pressure is too tough"crowd this forum is the only place on the internet I can find, not in lacrosse media, not on social media where there is any criticism of this program. considering they're on national tv every week, that's quite remarkable.

Even if they win the next 5 games and prove they are worthy of a ranking between 20 and 30, that does little to help them get to the tournament. Of course losing any of the next 5 will just be more proof of the the concrete hardening around the feet as they jump in the river.

Assumming they win all other games, if they cannot be Penn State or Maryland (right now it looks like a very long shot) there is 0% chance of post season play.

Agree. I think most on this forum would agree that, in terms of program relevance or post-season aspirations, nothing in the next 5 games represents a "win" scenario.

At the end of the QK/Foy podcast this morning, Foy directly asked QK about the Petro situation and suggested that there's likely to be increased media attention coming. Sadly, completely ducked the question and went on to promote his upcoming broadcasts. Maybe Ed Lee at the Sun can try to do some real reporting, though we know real reporting doesn't happen in the lax media because the "reporters" are all deathly afraid of angering the sources.

I'm not talking about the team. I'm talking about the fans on this forum. Win the next 5 and people will have hope. You all are in a Shawshank "Hope is a good thing, Red" situation. 5 wins and all will be talking momentum and how those PSU, OSU, and MD games are all 50-50 props.

Any wins coming in the next week while welcome must be viewed the same way the Towson win is. Nice to have but means nothing.

And to be honest I’m not convinced that Hop even wins tomorrow night. I think the Mount will be hungry to stick it to Hop. What is this team hungry for?

Spot on! Jack Thomas and Rick Kowalchuk turned out to be pretty good. Interesting to note that Scotty did not get fired after the 3-7 year and when those freshmen were seniors, they won the national championship. Just saying

You can't really blame Quint for not wanting to talk about it. He's clearly closer to the situation than others. I wouldn't be surprised if the AD/advisory committe or whatever they're calling that cadre these days seeks his input on the issue. Plus, he's not really a reporter. He's a game analyst. If Foy wants to know what's going on, he should have his staff do some reporting.

Are there any influential alums that we know for sure want a coaching change? I know several that are fiercely loyal to Petro and will lobby to keep him in place, but I haven't heard about any that are firmly in the "time to move on" camp. Doesn't mean that there aren't any, I just don't know who they are. It's possible some are waiting until the end of the season to make their thoughts known. Perhaps somewhat of note: Joe Cowan has a grandson joining the team next year (Ryan Evans from Boys Latin), whom Petro recruited.
