Worst case, they stink, and you lose anyway and are free to go back to Darby or whoever you want in the next game. Best case, maybe you find a new goalie for the rest of the year (and for future years).

If they still did postgame press conferences, that'd be something I'd expect the reporters to ask Petro about.
i'd expect they were trying to win the game and going with the guy they thought gave them the best chance to do that.

Not a fan, not a hater. Just saw snippets of today's game: was Epstein in for the greater part of the game? If so, total respect for his stones, but if a program like Hop doesn't have a backup/prospect on the roster who can do a better job than a young man playing at 33 1/3 in a 45 (or even 78) rpm game (yep I'm 'mature') that is not good.

I'm sure the docs have said he can't do more damage, but geez...

Most coaches wouldn't lie though; they'd say "We've made a decision but won't announce it before the game" or at worst "no comment". IMO, it really was a game-time decision in this case.

Sure they would. Coaches “lie” all the time, I mean it’s not even really a lie, it’s just not showing your hand and being tight lipped on information, which tons of coaches do

Is this supposed to mean something? Despite an awful start to the season, Hopkins is still third in the country in average home attendance. Turnout is down EVERYWHERE. Homewood is one of the only venues that still consistently draws a decent crowd. And, again, that's with the team sucking.
Struck a nerve. Sorry. Mitigating circumstances today; fine. Is it your contention that there is still a high level of excitement and interest in the program?

Excitement? No, of course not.

Interest? Yes. We're on page 175 of the thread and it's not even mid-March. And yes, the attendance numbers suggest there is still plenty of interest. I was at the Princeton game last weekend—Hop's tailgate was probably three times as big as the home team's.

Just thought it was silly to say the crowd today had anything to do with "apathy" when, in fact, it wasn't a bad number for a 2020 D1 lacrosse game in March. I would encourage you to check out attendance averages for some other teams. Anything above 1,000 these days, when it's cold out, is a decent number. Duke is averaging 1,053. Loyola: 1,779. Penn State: 1,621. North Carolina: 691 (yikes!). Hopkins: 2,332, behind only Syracuse and their weather-proof dome and, surprisingly, Utah.

So yeah, it's not apathy.

Further, signs near the ticket windows asked anyone with a cough or fever to stay home on consideration of others.

Press conference video is up 16.

BTW, I checked. The reason there wasn’t one two weeks ago was because the SID staff had many events that afternoon and only two covering MLAX. In that situation, they just do the interviews on the field. If the SID office have three people available, that’s when they can sit down inside and shoot video of it.

Has jacksheet to do with accountability.

Watch the press conference. “Self-inflicted wounds.”

I’d say that goes well beyond the field. You can back up to how the peer leadership did with the Foley situation. And then how the HC handled the Rapine situation.

Yeah, enough self-inflicted wounds for everyone to bleed out.

But hey! That’s Baltimore for you!

Aside from army, Hopkins held SU to their second lowest scoring game thus far. So I would say our defense didn’t do too bad today.
let’s look at offense....excluding Townsend, we are averaging 9 points a game. That’s not helping us win. Bobby needs to get his Sh$@ together and mix it up. Change it up. They have more Players than the ones he continues to hope will start performing.

'Cuse pretty much took their foot off the gas after it was 10-4 at the half (should have been 11-3). They stopped pushing transition and held the ball in the second half. How often do you see an SU team do that? Murphy did look good in garbage time though.

A loss to either Navy or Delaware and we might as well open up the 2021 thread.

Fewer than 2,200 people at a Hop-Cuse game at Homewood.
How many of those fans were Cuse fans? Wow, how things have changed at Hopkins.

I’ve been trying to think of a positive spin on things and finally came up with one.

Hopkins is the best 1-4 team in the country!

(... because they are the only 1-4 team in the country.)

Oh the humanity! There are currently nine D3 schools with 1-4 records.

And look at that. There’s another MSM, without the apostrophe s.

Maybe Hopkins can play that one on Tuesday.

What else is there to say? Perhaps the fanbase has simply stopped beating its head against the wall?
