Covid-19 rules really take away the point of the game. My opinion only.
School Closings
Re: School Closings
Orfling outstanding post. Hopkins has a website for people who want to follow developments and get more data. I haven’t been there but my daughters spouse who is an AD at a well known D lll school does. They have cancelled an overseas team trip planed in the near future. They are also considering fan less games etc.
A preeminent pandemic said it may de roll into a bigger problem than SARD or Ebola. I got an email from a friend in Shanghai pop 20 million saying mortality was running 1.5 to 2 %. The WH prefers to count corona deaths as flu deaths to keep numbers down. Trump has ordered passengers on the cruise ship to stay on board because to quote him he didn’t want to double the number of reported cases

There are only 1 million hospital beds in the USA per report

Re: School Closings
I should also point out that being concerned about the possibility of an epidemic has absolutely nothing to do with Political Correctness, which has become an odd boogeyman phrase that lazy people assign to anything and everything that they don't agree with and that inconveniences them.
Re: School Closings
If you guys are going to be/get "political," please take it to the Politics board.
Thanks
Thanks

MD declared a state of emergency. I get the feeling that it's primarily a mechanism to access more state & fed funding. In the short term, with our wonderful escape into lacrosse, I think we'll have to be prepared for:
Changes in game locations (for example, University of North Carolina is restricting any university-affiliated travel to any states with a state of emergency -- right now that's Washington State, Florida, and California, but it could expand;

If you find yourself liking and respecting the posters on the lacrosse threads, heading off to the political threads is a sure cure.

Tech. Facts aren’t political; they are facts. I see nothing political in the use of them

This.
American Hospital Association "Best Guess Epidemiology" for #codiv19 over next 2 months:
96,000,000 infections
4,800,000 hospitalizations
1,900,000 ICU admissions
480,000 deaths
vs flu in 2019:
35,500,000 infections
490,600 hospitalizations
49,000 ICU admissions
34,200 deaths
There are only 1 million hospital beds in the USA per report
I am curious as to why nothing about these predictions are shown on the AHA website.

Data seem to indicate that a public health over-reaction to the Spanish Flu saved lives versus a wait-and-see approach:

Essentially it is all about how quickly you can head off exponential growth.

The above reports did not sound credible, and a few minutes research confirm that. These estimates do not come from the AHA. Rather they were the opinion of one person, of many, who presented his own views on a webinar. There is no indication that they have been vetted by anyone, and the AHA certainly has not sanctioned them. They have gone out of their way to state that these numbers do not represent the view of the AHA.
Re: School Closings
Thank you. False data is becoming all too common. The post I saw was from someone credible who reposted so I assume it is be omg a narrative. I will edit it out
Re: School Closings
Those are the type of "facts" you referred to yesterday? "Credible," according to whom?
Again, let's keep the lacrosse board exclusively lacrosse...thanks
Re: School Closings
This a topic that is directly tied to the sport and will have consequences. Thanks for your concern. Yep I made an error. That’s one data error in about 20+ years. Anything that can directly impact the sport can and has been posted in the forums over the years including paying for athletes services etc

Hell yes closings are relevant. Post here.
Arguments over the gov’t should go to the Hamsterdam side though.
Discuss the potential impacts of the virus on the sport, without politicizing it. It can be done.
There, both of you are right.

We're all lax fans here... if info effects lacrosse and the 2020 season then of course it's relevant. Politics isn't.
Re: School Closings
An Inter Ac School outside Philadelphia had a student with a relative who has the virus. They have closed the school until March 29.
