^^^good stuff^^^^ So at least in a quick review, there is .4+ Goal HFA...Waking up in your own bed, not driving/flying, not eating hotel food, nicer locker room, etc....LaxDad23 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:00 pmTo put some numbers to the opinions... some quick math:Dr. Tact wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 3:12 pmI agree with you...the only benefit is comfort and not traveling. Not much crowd generated benefit (i.e. cheering loudly so plays cant be called)Badlands wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 3:04 pm I wonder whether there even is a HFA in wlax. I can’t say that I have detected one with the team I follow most. I’ve probably watched wlax games at 10 schools, and I just don’t think home teams get enough of a crowd for the atmosphere to make much of a difference. That would leave the advantages as the benefit of not having to travel and also familiarity with the playing surface, which is probably most significant for goalies. I wonder if there is a quantifiable HFA. Interesting question. Maybe for Maryland because they do get large and boisterous home crowds and play on a unique surface, but they rarely lose anywhere. What we do know is that they really prefer home games to playing in NY blizzards.
So far this season 280 women's d1 games have been played.
The home team record is 164-116, therefore the Away team record is 116-164.
Average home team margin of victory is 7.59
Average away team margin of victory is 6.43
this doesn't account for rankings, etc, and some of these might have been neutral sites.
if you cap the margin of victory to <=10 goals.
Average home team margin of victory = 4.85
Average away team margin of victory = 4.46

Maybe somebody should slide early to kavanaugh when she is inside the 8.

Florida is coming back
Re: Florida V Dartmouth
Is the lift check a legal play in womens lax? Lifting up the butt end of a player's crosse who has possession?
Re: Florida V Dartmouth
Good question...I always see it called as a foul. In general, a stick check that goes up is not allowed (i.e. on the head of the crosse), but I dont know about that butt end check.

Big FPS and draw. Under 3:00...and a card on Florida. Very impressed with Dartmouth.

Re: Florida V Dartmouth
Florida defenders never met a cross check they didn't like.
Re: Florida V Dartmouth
Not sure if it’s technically illegal but I notice it has really become prevalent in recent years. I feel that riding attackers trailing a player who is clearing the ball do it all the time.
Re: Florida V Dartmouth
over....Dartmouth wins 13-9
Re: Florida V Dartmouth
39 fouls and 12 cards. in a 60 minute game that is roughly a foul/card every minute BRUTAL !!

To those with better knowledge (Rafterjack) how many of Dartmouth's starters are Spencer recruits ? Not to take away from current coach - she obviously can do her job. Spencer was there only 3 years after some turmoil - which I am not encouraging the discussion of. Would imagine the Hanover location and academic requirements would be a hurdle, but she obviously left the team in good standing which I think is impressive based on timeline. Good on them. Will be interesting to watch Stanford trajectory over the next few years. My lacrosse nerd side is showing. Loving all the games that are making 5-20 spots unpredictable ! I'm also kind of fascinated by Ivy tiers of success and the why's and why nots for those teams.
