2nd death in Kirkland WA. 70 year old male. A few more confirmed cases as well. 72 cases this morning, is 85 this evening. This rapid bump up probably reflects more serious and wider spread testing being done.

Republican FL Gov @RonDeSantisFL calls for public health emergency on #coronavirus: The exec order says anyone suspected of having #COVID19 will be quarantined for 2 weeks or until they test negative.
Also, the CDC mistakenly released a patient from the Texas Center for Infectious Disease who later returned a positive COVID-19 reading.

I don’t recall hearing in the news about Covid19 in Russia. Not that I’d expect any truth from a country run by the world wealthiest mobster. It my understanding that Russia has restricted travel to/from China, but I’m not aware of any travel restrictions between US and Russia. There are a number of Russians here, often in the sciences, that regularly return home.
Re: All things CoronaVirus
And close contact with Iran. They’ve probably got it too. Maybe they are also late testing.

Exactly. Travel within Russia to the former Soviet states, the Stans, adjacent to Iran is pretty common. Doubt if there’ll be any travel restrictions unless Don gets clearance from Vlad.

Re: All things CoronaVirus
We are very close to 100 total cases with 5 deaths. Kind of mortality rate that was quoted in China early on. Both death toll and total number of cases in US far exceeding those of Ebola in the 2014-2016 crises even though the mortality rate is much lower.

"CDC abruptly postpones coronavirus press briefing
The postponement comes after a number of states reported new cases over the weekend
CDC spokesperson Ben Haynes told reporters on the scheduled call that it had been pushed back and did not provide an explanation as to why or when it would be rescheduled.
The CDC today also removed information on its website that detailed how many people in the country had been tested for the virus. It now only displays the number of confirmed cases. CDC has not yet responded to a request for comment."

Where were all you bleaters during the Obama/Biden administration
The 2009 flu pandemic in the United States was a novel strain of the Influenza A/H1N1 virus, commonly referred to as "swine flu", that began in the spring of 2009.
As of mid-March 2010, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that about 59 million Americans contracted the H1N1 virus, 265,000 were hospitalized as a result, and 12,000 died
AHHHHH but they were liberal progressives.

You’re reporting the score before the current game is over. Were the Obamas honest? Did they bungle they response and hide it? Did they call it a Republican hoax? The rest of the world has widespread Coronavirus testing. We’re wiping ourselves with rocks here. Afghanistan should monitor our response to this.

A bit under 0.01% death rate. So far about ~2% for COVID-19.6ftstick wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 4:32 pm Where were all you bleaters during the Obama/Biden administration

Every year you have authorities exhorting people to get a flu shot... Doesn't always prevent the flu, but often does reduce its intensity.
The problem here is that the Trump administration is so durned tuned into their re-election (and the fact that it very well might turn on if the economy is really humming) that they are screwing this one up in the process. It does not help that at the top they really don't know what they are doing, and are so distrustful of people with actual knowledge that they resist the correct steps. They actually look like they are covering things up, because _they are_
