Pick'em Idea

Is there any way we could set up a NFL style pick'em within the forums/for forums users? Could pick a handful (6-10) of good games every week. Could be a friendly competition of sorts to crown the king of D3 Lacrosse knowledge.

You would have to find a way to keep it within some sort of a limitation otherwise it would become ridiculous for whoever was the scribe.

Such as;

Only picking from matchups between two USILA top 20 teams.
(Probably would not work once conference play kicks off as the Cabrinis of the world don’t ever have a ranked conference foe)

Only being able to pick each team once for the season
(Pretty standard pickem rule. Nobody can just sit on Salisbury all year)

Only 2 picks per week per participant.
(Limit the work for the poor soul who volunteers to tally)

That sort of thing.

Yes thats what I was looking towards. It would likely just have to be a certain number of higher profile games each week though. There are just too many teams/games to choose from.

The old laxpower site had a contest for D1 and D3. They were able to keep track and had a winner each
Week and year end. Lots of fun ! I just tried the links above and was rejected.

Brandonv, the guy who is doing the D1 Men's Pick 'em, offered to do the same for D3 Men. The major difference being that D1 Men have 75 teams so 37 games per week while D3 Men has hundreds. So we need to narrow down the number of teams. Each week, we could do the Top 20 Teams but this would involve a little more work on brandon's part. Alternatively, we could simply select a certain number of teams (who would most likely be the Top 20 Teams for the vast majority of the season).

Any thoughts before we move forward with this?

This is a list of top teams from 2019. I guess the main questions are: How many teams? And which ones?

Alright, here is a college try (pardon the pun) at what this could look like. This is using the current USILA top 20 as the games. Let me know what you think. In the meantime we will use this as a base to build the group of players. As a note, the D1 pool is evolving and growing. We are looking at some ideas to move it to Web-based. We will be creating a proper name and logo at that time. For those of you who enjoy D1 as well, ECD Lacrosse has stepped up and is going to put up an awesome prize we are going to be announcing soon. Get your picks in right away.

In the D1 pool I start each week on Wednesday. It would be difficult to keep up if I started both leagues the same day, so I will start D3 on the Friday. Week will run Friday through following Thursday. When the first game starts I close responses and the link will then be dead.

Matnum made a good suggestion in the women's D1 forum to use the Fanlax Forum Rankings. I will use that as well for D3 going forward if no one has objections to that.
