Junior LSM Will Rock is no longer with @UVAMensLax, per a team spokesperson.
Rock played in both of Virginia's games so far this year but did not record any stats. He picked up 27 CTs, 76 GBs, 1 G, and 7 As in his first 2 years.
Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
Good thing Dol came back for a 5th year. All three of the first years (Bower, Matsui, and Giulieri) have been at close defense so far.
Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
Any info on why Rock is gone?

Xander wrote:Although Rock was removed from the online roster, the official ruling is a “suspension for a violation of team rules”, according to HC Lars Tiffany. He also clarified that it’s still under review, so the timeline for Rock’s potential return is unclear.

Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
Thanks for the clarification. I know what that generally means in football. I guess it can mean lots of things in lax.
Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
Looks like name removed from roster on UVA website, that was quick
Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
Maybe caught reading Cliff's notes instead of the required reading?

UVA’s Dox Aitken is going to use his remaining NCAA eligibility next year to play football for Villanova

That’s is great for him. He was recruited to play football at ND. Stuck with his UVA lacrosse commitment.Matnum PI wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 3:21 pm UVA’s Dox Aitken is going to use his remaining NCAA eligibility next year to play football for Villanova

Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
I'm curious what position he plans to play: WR, Safety, Punter...

Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
Looks like Princeton has more than just than just the best player in the country. Based on this game, UVA would be hard pressed to make the Ivy tournament. Peters was superb. Princeton looked quite athletic. Conners played well but could have used the relief that Rock could have provided. Tough day for the UVA team d,

Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
I didn't see the game, but when I look at the boxscore for the Princeton at Virginia game things look pretty even:
Shots P-46, V-48
Shots on goal P-30, V-28
Saves P - 16, V - 14
Turnovers P-15, V-15
Clears P 20-28, V 17-19
Ground Balls P -37, V-50
Face-off P - 14, V-17
Man-up P 1-4, V 1-3
In the end the thing that sticks out the most might be the shooting pct
P 16-46, .348
V 12-48, .250
Allowing 16 goals is not good, and UVa is starting a lot of young guys on the defense, but on the other hand shouldn't Virginia's high powered offense be scoring a little more. It doesn't look like UVa's 6th starter, Jeff Connor has been scoring much with 3 assists on the season and nothing on Saturday. Freshman Peter Garno has contributed 3 goals and 1 assist on the season. So it looks like UVa might be still seeking a 6th man on the starting offense. Of course, Aitken's I-67 shooting pct is helping too much.

Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
All true except Virginia had clear advantages in Groundballs, clears and face offs. Usually, you win when you control those areas. It’s early and with Saustad out, we are beyond young at close which bit us. The talent is there though. Lets hope they get it figured out

I did see the game and the stats do not give the flavor of the game, or at least the flavor I came away from the game with.Cooter wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 9:56 am I didn't see the game, but when I look at the boxscore for the Princeton at Virginia game things look pretty even:

1. Many of the P saves were very high quality saves either stuffing a 1 on 1 or cheating low and the UVA player obliging with a low shot. This is a good news/bad news scenario: Good news in UVA was getting very good looks, bad news in not finishing.
2. Like all saves are not created equal, all turnovers are not created equal either. There were at least four turnovers that either led directly to a score or directly stopped what looked like a UVA scoring opportunity. The three under handed passes stood out to me.
3. Not shown in the stats but having a huge impact was Sower as an emergency outlet. 10 seconds on shot clock? No problem pass it to Sowers. He can get a quality shot off no problem. That makes the defense even more tired.
4. I agree UVA's offense is looking for its personality. Maybe so is the defense. Lars certainly helped last year's team find theirs so I am optimistic this team will too. Despite Sowers & Peters heroics, UVA could of pulled this game out. Good job to P for finishing.
Re: VIRGINIA LACROSSE 2020
Watched the entire game. Super pumped as a PU guy we won, but if Peters didn't stand on his head early it could have been out of grasp for the Tigers. UVA will be just fine. Started off slower last year and won a natty. They have the athletes and culture to be there late in may. Great game to watch. Klockner is the best atmosphere in college lax (apologies to the dome and homewood). Good luck this year Hoos.
