And then there’s Inside Lacrosse. They have RIT ranked top 10 and the SLU and RPI barely making the top 20. No Union (returning 95% of their points and All-American defenseman) or Ithaca (also returning most of their points and all but one pole and SSDM). Inside Lacrosse should stick with pay-to-play from club teams to show up on their D1 recruiting rankings and stop pretending they pay attention to D3 lacrosse before May.Empirelaxer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 8:27 am https://www.uslaxmagazine.com/college/m ... son-top-20
Three in the top 20 (RIT, Union, SLU) with Ithaca and RPI getting votes. Good way to start

Things I learned from reading the first page of this thread:
1. Athletic conferences are not about athletics.
2. Forfeiting half-a-season's worth of games is far less important than being on a train line to NYC.
3. We're all myopic idiots.

Saw him in h.s. at John Carroll in Baltimore win almost every faceoff and put in a few goals in his championship game at JHU.
Not surprised he's killing it at Vassar.
Congrats to him and all the other honorees.

It's a good thing it's not about athletics. Once again, Bard has a total of 15 players on its roster. https://bardathletics.com/sports/mens-l ... sort=class
They should save everyone the trouble and announce the forfeits now
Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
On the plus side, should an opposing team find themselves on the Bard campus with an afternoon to spare because their lacrosse game has been cancelled/forfeited, they're just a quick train ride from an impromptu field trip to a viewing of Hamilton.Empirelaxer wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 1:12 pm

Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
Bard is a big team. Not in numbers, in size...
No need to pick on Bard. You have 15 guys playing the game which is a good thing. For top teams in the league, you play your starters for a quarter and then you sub in your freshmen and sophs for extended playing time. It was a great opportunity for my son freshman year.

Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
... the real downside to having only 15 players is that injuries will inevitably take their toll by season’s end. Fewer substitutions also increases the risk of injury.
Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
I don't think anyone here has an issue with Bard per se. The concern is that the injuries mount and they end up forfeiting a bunch of games, like they did last season. Terrible situation all around: for the kids, the coaches, and the other LL teams. I think IC had to reschedule their senior night last year because of the Bard forfeiture.

Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
Could be another nail bitter this year and it’ll come down to who stays healthy longest.
1.RIT gotta give it to the tigers until they show otherwise
2. SLU- best year to make a run with a huge senior class
3.Union- lost a couple key starters - goalie,f/o, defender, attack but has the majority of their offense back
4. Ithaca- loses a strong middie but brings back a lot
5. RPI- lost a lot of hair to graduation
6.Clarkson
7.Vassar
8.Skidmore
9.Bard

Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
With a few of the teams starting their game schedules next weekend, does anyone know of any scrimmages that have taken place or will this upcoming weekend for the LL teams? Excited for the season to start and to see how the programs stack up
Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
Not this coming weekend but St. Lawrence is supposed to scrimmage Middlebury 2/22

Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
Didn't Union also lose their coach to retirement, or am I mis-remembering? If so, is it expected that there will be a smooth transition with the new coach?TopShelf585 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 5:59 pm

Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
Long-time assistant took over. I don’t know that there will be much of a transition.

Ithaca vs Alfred this weekend
Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
If there were more quality lacrosse players who wanted to pursue a liberal arts education with an emphasis on the arts including studio art (which there should be), Skidmore would be a powerhouse...

Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020
The draw has to be that specific.
Ive been there twice with 2 very different kids, they both left the tour early.
We then followed up at Union. The difference is shocking.
