Chase Scanlan made an early case in rebuttal of some of the minimization of his quality or value (independence of solid replacement options that aren’t as good as he is) today I think.
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Not that Scanlan isn't capable of being great this year, but it was against a Colgate team that has given up 40 goals in the first two games of the season.

ha. by who? one internet poster?
he had almost 60 points as a 1st year middie, maybe 2nd only to same year handley.... ever.
loyola scored in bunches last year. they may not have to repeat that, but it's not very likely they will (almost no one could given what they lost).

early returns may belie that take... teams on O seem to be on overdrive. usually the opposite early season.

There is not doubt chase is a talent. I believe he saw the writing on the wall. Chase benefited immensely from Pat. IMO he saw SU with the fire power to propel his game

loyola should have another 2-3 goals but rode robbed em.
then again, hoos should have a couple more, too.

edit: lindley's tilt is awful.

PB. Our greyhounds look awful. Once again turnovers and poor shot selection. It will be a long season

its not just that... we can't catch a pass to make a shot in transition, or even off a restart. We're giving virginia these turnovers and 2nd chance opportunities. Shafer is getting left out to dry with this defense

also worth noting that the midfield can't initiate much so its all up to Olmstead to attack from behind the goal. But unfortunately he keeps trying to split doubles instead of passing it out.

We've had maybe 2-3 quick stick dunk opportunities that needed to be canned.

alot of uncaused turnovers thats caused by ourselves. (i.e dropped passes, losing the ball from our own players sticks)

Better 3rd. Still too many mistakes

Yes, they had a nice 4 goal run. But the turnovers on man down cannot happen. Those are good opportunities for goals/shots. Devereaux can SNIPE

oh well. 3 goal loss to the defending champs. Much smaller spread for the goals than i was expecting.

some good things to build upon the loss.

Some bad things that need to be really really worked on.

Shafer faced a baptism by fire today and stood on his head

Great second half by Schafer, strong gritty comeback effort, lots to like.
It's very, very early.
Ugly stuff to be expected at this point.

That said, PB's predictions are 0-1.

Been a tad busy with work fellas. Cheer up. If you read this thread we are the worst team in America. Relax. Lost by three with refs home cooking. 😂

Do I owe any Hoos money or crabs? Speak up.

We will crush this team in May.

I did note army’s impressive victory. That has me thinking.

The demise of the Hounds is greatly exaggerated. Loyola took a half to start to gel but has plenty of talent. There were at least 3-4 Missed Opportunities for the hounds with shots right to Rode’s stick. Face offs were great topping a solid lasalla most of the day. Hounds need to clean things up, but given their changes and losses from Last year, for the first real time out it was pretty good. They will be right in the mix in May. Disappointing result, but lots to be excited about and learn from on this one.

i admit, some of my earlier posts were made out of emotion. Lots of the mistakes committed today can be fixed in practice and as the season goes on. Just need more and more chemistry to gel and find the right combinations.

Some of the offensive sets that led to goals were very very pretty.

The result didn’t surprise me. 2 talented teams adding new pieces to their line ups in their 1st game.we all should have expected what we saw. I would rather play Loyola than Colgate. We know Loyola and Virginia are good but have lot’s to work on. No idea how good Cuse and UNC actually are.
