Sure wouldn't agree with that.
You watch the AFA-Duke game?

Last year's .384 FO percent gave more than 100 extra possessions to opponents. Additionally, opponents had 20 more EMO's due to the disparity in penalties. That's a lot of pressure on the defense.

A lot of pressure on a defense that had its issues under the best of circumstances. QK called last year's defense a dumpster fire today on IL. That's probably unfair, but it was certainly not a strength that could withstand being on the field too long. By the way, we won almost all the face offs against St. Bonaventure, which was essentially a freshman team last year. The FO numbers would have been worse without that game.

For what it’s worth, here’s the only video I’ve found of the York scrimmage. Mesh barrier, shaky hand, and awful music loop make it a tough watch.

Sorry to hear. Frank Rhodes was a good man, husband, father, teacher and president. I had occasion to talk with him several times and always felt like he was interested in me as a person. In addition to his accomplishments in the field of education, he was immensely proud of his family and would tell you about them in his eloquent way. He lived a good long life. RIP Frank.

Well said! Thank you. President Rhodes was an amazing man. As you note, he's the type of person whom you needed to meet personally to fully appreciate.

#33 Jeff Dean (Co-Captian, 2nd team AA) is the son of a Cornell Athletics HOF football player, Bob Dean '49. Bob Dean was named several years ago as the all time best football kicker of all time at Cornell (punting, placekicking), and was a running back as well.

1970 - 34 players in uniform, perhaps another one or two who might not be dressed. Same with the 1980 team. Amazing how rosters have grown. In 1971, if memory serves, you could only dress 30 for an NCAA game.

Keep in mind due to league eligibility rules there were separate Freshman teams in the Ivy Leagues until 1976? and many Freshman teams were replaced by JV programs. I don't know if any formal JV programs exist today in NCAA lacrosse. I would guess that 1980 team photo has less than 10 freshman and more than 10 seniors just the opposite of today's rosters,

The Ivies and Hopkins were holdouts on the freshman eligibility rules. Hopkins changed in 1972. I thought the Ivies changed in 76 too not earlier and maybe a year or two later

Hearing now that intrasquad scrimmage originally planned for tomorrow has been moved to Sunday. Weather concerns. The coaches may supplement the teams with a few recent grads that play professionally or that remain close to playing shape.

If anyone has a chance to get there - pls provide a debrief to us all. Many thanks.

Cornell's last freshman team went undefeated, and went on to contribute to the 42 straight wins that now remain an NCAA record winning streak.
