Augustiner Edelstoff is my favorite beer in the world. Spent many a day at the Augustiner Braustuben in Munich while at brewing school....I was 25, and on weekends, I could manage 6-10 liters with little difficulty.

The Braustuben is also one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Wish I could upload some pics for you.

I went there two years ago for the first time in 20 years. The beer is flawless. Flawless.

You have great taste! I don’t know why anyone would drink cheap beer. I love German beer. Here, everything is these awful IPAs. I have had them all. Some are “good” but I don’t like the style. A place in Mass. makes some very good German Style beers. Surprisingly good. I buy them off and on to support the effort. I am itching to get to Munich. I may go next fall. A friend has visited the Augustiner Brewery a few times. Their is a spot in NYC that has great beer. I plan to get down there next month if not sooner.
American IPAs are further proof that most Americans’ taste buds don’t work, but they think they’ve elevated from Bud and Miller.

I received excellent advice before visiting Germany (mostly Bavaria and the Rhineland) years ago. I was told there was no need to ask for a particular beer - to just order “ein bier, bitte” wherever I was. I was never disappointed.
Yup.

Unless you are in Dusseldorf, in which case you are only going to get top-fermented altbier, a brown ale, unless you specify something else.

FWIW----the other reason that this is good advice is that Germany has what are called "tied houses". This means that a brewery agrees to pay for things like the draught system and taps, print the menus, etc. In exchange, the bar/restaurant agrees to purchase beer from the brewery. So going into a bar that is financed by Augustiner...and asking for a Spaten or Ayinger pour is pointless, as they will only carry Augustiner.

Tied houses are illegal in the US....but that law is broken all the time. Especially in Boston and Chicago, to cite just two very corrupt cities....

Chinese couple (spies?) were escorted from a top Canadian infectious disease lab in Winnipeg after possibly either taking samples and/or technology to China:

My Twitter feed says they took pathogen samples to Wuhan...and the husband specialized in coronavirus research.

Sheesh...that is scary stuff.

What is scary is the biological weapon delivery system the Russian’s have developed but standing up to them doesn’t matter anymore. Hasn’t mattered since 1991.

Buckle up. Going to be a LOT more cases.

Nice to know that NIH has announced that they have a vaccine that has passed initial tests for safety and that they could roll out this vaccine if conditions warrant.

Primary example of why NIH funding should not be cut as some in the Trump administration have suggested.

I hope we don’t waste any vaccine on the anti- vaccine folks.

All of these life threatening illnesses abound, yet the deluded right wingers tell us there is no need for health care reform while tRUMP reduces health care for the poor and the elderly.
It has been proven a hundred times that the surest way to the heart of any man, black or white, honest or dishonest, is through justice and fairness.

Likely less expensive than Bernies plan.
