In a way, I'd welcome this; it would demonstrate with some clarity and finality what a charade and cover-up the GOP engaged in for a corrupt President. We might as well just have the thing as clear as possible.

Schiff absolutely killed it again today. Go ahead, give him nicknames most of us left behind when we were 12; the guy's a giant.

From a former Senate GOP legal advisor (back when Republicans cared about stuff):

"If many of the legal arguments in the White House’s letter fail to convince, its overall thrust and implications should trouble all members of Congress, Republicans and Democrats alike. In short, the White House has asserted a unilateral right to assess the merits of a Congressional investigation and, if found lacking, refuse to participate. This strikes at the heart of our system of checks and balances."

Rep Crow spoke of Ukraine soldiers facing the Russians without helmets, in sneakers, while Trump and Rudy and Barr squeezed their nuts. When does Dershowitz go?

I am torn between giving Trump a black eye, 4 republicans voting for witnesses, and the result of a pure partisan split with no witnesses. I like the odds of picking up the senate under the pure partisan split, given the 70% polling for witnesses.

Agree Schiff is killing it. He is clearly, heads and shoulder above all the other "lawyers" on both sides. Great form as a prosecutor.

I would expect him to go very early if not first when the (non) defense starts. 2nd half of tomorrow afternoon.

It's only impeachable when a (D) ox is bring gored.
You think that a McConnell run Senate wouldn't impeach Obama if Obama told the world that he personally ordered the investigation into Trump's ties to Russia? And that you and FoxNation wouldn't be demanding impeachment if that happened.

Told ya, fellas. They think it's ok for Trump to do this because they think the Dems did it. Welcome to the TrumpEra.

Anything goes, "because" the Dems are bad.
Political dirty tricks, a la Stone, Black, Manafort, Atwater, Carville, Begala, Morris, Penn & countless others.
Obama used the NSC, FBI, IC, & 5 eyes allies.
HRC used the DNC, Fusion GPS, FBI (funding for Steele) & her friends in the State Dept.
Trump (the cheapskate outsider) used Rudy, Lev, Joe & Victoria.
...you get what you pay for.
Are you opining...tying all of this to "it's Obama's fault"?

It’s okay if they stick with Moscow Mitch. Imagine a good lacrosse team with a 20 goal head start that was afraid to play the game. Americans can smell cowardice a mile away. Witnesses under oath take down everyone.

If they are all in the bag, brain in neutral, like folks we know, then he won't change a thing. But as usual you miss the point.

I just have to laugh at the thought of your righteous ire if Obama tried to condition aid appropriated by Congress and subject to the Impoundment Control Act to get an investigation of a GOP candidate announced. Such a fraud.

Watching the cold-blooded smearing of Yovanovitch doesn’t move them. Mitt will order the escargot and keep his mouth shut. Pretty clear how Obama whipped him.

That is a strange one for so called Americans. Americans generally don't like people in power pushing around little guys, even if the little guys are government employees.

Get the point yet? Probably not.

A sawbuck says this attack was "preventable" via backseat Monday Morning Quarterbacking. Do you care? Nope.

Anything's preventable. Leave the aircraft in the hangar & they won't crash. Get the pont yet ?
Yep. Another way of expressing this sentiment is "stuff happens".

Nah...you have to assign blame to a politician...particularly one that is not for the team you cheer for.

Interesting ABC play by play. Learned something interesting. If there are witnesses and Trump plays the ignore subpoena game, it will freeze the Senate - TOTALLY. They will not be able to take up other business while the courts sort it out. This really puts the 8 uncommitted Senators in the drivers seat - real power. Did not realize this.

Boy, that just doesn't sound right, TLD.

I think the rule is that if a Republican is President, you're supposed to just say "golly, the world is a dangerous place, and *hit happens", but if a Democrat is President, then it's: "the world ISN'T a dangerous place, and the only reason these people died is because of Dems in DC."

There. That makes MUCH more sense.....

Seems like something funky is going on with the republicans. A couple hours ago, Schumer announced that the democrats will not consider a deal of Hunter Biden for John Bolton or anyone else. Which is the right answer. Democrats will not trade a relevant witness (any of their desired witnesses) for an irrelevant witness (either Biden). Ted Cruz comes out and says Hunter Biden is really relevant like they have some new information. Either the republicans are trying to play rope-a-dope (unsuccessfully) or they are panicing, behaving like they really want/need witnesses.
