Oof. If this is accurate, is that just an auto-advance for CNU or is there a contingency plan to have backup teams ready in case of COVID withdrawals before the tourney? You'd like to think that the NCAA would be prepared for this by now (happened in the NCAA hockey tournament and I'm sure in others as well), but...yeah.

Tough news about Endicott. I agree with the Catholic over Stevens.....should be an entertaining game

Re: 2021 Tournament
Would be a tough way to end the year for the Gulls.
If true, it looks like CNU will have an extra day of rest in prepping for Stevenson/Kean, which would be a HUGE advantage and not having to play back to back days.

Re: 2021 Tournament
Here’s hoping it was a false positive and Endicott can get the game in. If not, they should be putting something out soon.
MAC - The SEC of DIII lacrosse.

CDC putting out new guidance that vaccinated people can go without masks indoors, so outdoors policy might open the stands this weekend if schools quickly get on board.

Re: 2021 Tournament
After the well-deserved backlash, the NCAA is reversing the bench limit. Back up to 52 fully vaccinated personnel. Doesn't help teams that have already had to travel (or that are not fully vaccinated yet) but better late than never. Just unfortunate that all players/team personnel who have passed a negative antigen test can't be on the sidelines.
Re: 2021 Tournament
This only applies to D1 to my knowledge. D3 travel party was and is 42 incl. coaches and support.ah23 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 9:38 am After the well-deserved backlash, the NCAA is reversing the bench limit. Re: 2021 Tournament
I could never for the life of me figure out why they reduced roster sizes during the Tournament, Covid or not. It should be all about the players, but it isn’t.
I hear it is a question of money. In our instance, the school would probably pay for it, or we could fundraise travel and hotel cost for the balance of the team in about five minutes.
Re: 2021 Tournament
I don't know the logic on 42 players, but the normal bus/coach holds 43 people. Maybe the NCAA will pay for one per team. But even then the teams could travel with a couple of vans too.

Re: 2021 Tournament
Typical motor coach seats around 56 which is why you see a lot of D3 rosters with 48 players or so
Re: 2021 Tournament
Actually, it's 43 players, 4 staff, 47 seats. This size motor coach is the typical size used during the season for cost reasons. Per NCAA championship allowances, each gets a $1500/day bus allowance. If the school wants to cover the difference for a 56 seat coach then good on them. Re: 2021 Tournament
Spoke today with someone who is assisting with the testing and logistics at a host site. This individual briefly described to me the processes in which these teams are being tested and some of the steps involved. It sounds like it is all being handled by a third-party company that has been on site since Wednesday. The real takeaway was there is little wiggle room and this individual believes Endicott won't be the last to, unfortunately, bow out. With all that being said, we didn't go into specifics, but with a tight window in which games are being played, the time you need to have ahead of time with no positive cases (1 week I believe), and close contact tracing involved, I'm just hoping everyone stays positive and tests negative. At the end of the day, I'm sad for Endicott and hope that is the only unfortunate instance.

Many teams traveled with 3 buses for social distancing purposes -- 20 to a bus or so. CrazyCheeseandcrackers wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 12:04 pm Typical motor coach seats around 56 which is why you see a lot of D3 rosters with 48 players or so
