I stand and take my hat off as do my children. It’s become a custom here but I don’t hold it against anyone that chooses not to. This is America. The State songs is a good idea. That is until Hitler made it unfashionable in the 1930s..
It makes ZERO sense.
What WOULD make sense? Is if they made up a State song for Texas, and play THAT during TX football games. Same for OK, MT, GA, etc.
What they have done is made the Stars and Stripes the symbol of our American Military. Nope. We've got flags and symbols for every branch of our armed forces. The Flag is about the Federal Government. the UNITED states.
That said I LOVE standing for the anthem. And wouldn't give a second thought to someone sitting or kneeling.
Newsflash to Americans: the ENTIRE point of the anthem is that we're FREE to stand, sit, whatever, when it's on. This isn't commie Russia. Please stop acting like it is.

Ask the Average conservative RIGHT NOW what they think about the Federal Government. You're moving the goalposts to some projection of what America CAN be. Not what it is.
Ask them about what it is now. Right now.
And again, when they stop swearing? There's my simple point: they do not like the Federal Government. And that is PRECISELY what the flag represents. Directly. Literally. Not my fault that others give their own reason as to what they think American Flag is.
Tell that to Colin K. And to your own political party who wants to mandate the Pledge of A.
If what you say here is true? No one would have so much as noticed Colin, or anyone else kneeling, protesting the American Federal Government's actions.
The same Federal Government you and your fellow R voters CLAIM to despise. You just don't like that I'm right about this. It's why your crew despised the BLM, who dared to tell America that the Government (run by Dems, not less) wasn't working for them. Instead of rallying to support them...what did you do?
Says it all, if you ask me.
The answer is yes. So.....naturally, you want to pretend that that never happened, because it's not possible that your team ever does anything wrong, or does anything that you disagree with. So you ignore that it happened, or twist it around enough in your mind that you think "that doesn't count".
You STILL can't explain why your party didn't tell BLM: welcome to the party, we think the Government isn't working well, either. And the reason you bail from that question is that you don't want to simply admit your party made a mistake there. Because you think admitting a mistake makes you weak. Everyone makes mistakes. Well...not you, obviously....but the rest of us do.
You say your wife was a teacher. Ask her about laws FORCING the Pledge at public schools. Then when you get your answer, come back and tell me that you disagree with these laws mandating the singing of the Federal Government song.

To answer the question you refuse to answer.....
The reasons the Republicans didn't embrace the citizens of Minneapolis, who told the entire world that their local government wasn't listening to them, and was actively killing them, are:
1. Republicans only care about their own tribe's personal rights. They don't care if "other people" don't get them. To wit: your defense of the Jan 6th folks, because that's your tribe. So you'll do everything to tell us it was no big deal, lawbreaking is fine, the damage wasn't that bad, and trying to overthrow an election is no big deal.
You're the poster boy for this way of thinking. So long as your rights are secured, you don't care. But the millisecond you think you lose even a fraction of your rights? You lose it. Hence your DEI comments, where you think white guys like you and me aren't getting all their rights. Has NOTHING to do with fairness.
2. They think the police aren't the government. They think the police are managed by....well, honestly I don't know where they think the employees and managers at police departments come from, but the CLEARLY don't think they're the government. Because Republicans, to a person, think that the government can't do anything right.
Except the police and the military. I don't get it, but that's how they think. So they don't see the man how was killed as a systemic failure of the Minneapolis Government...even though, hilariously, it's ENTIRELY run by Democrats.
3.Racism. Happy to admit that I believe----rightly or wrongly----- that's a small percentage of the Republican party. It's still worth mentioning.
You guys missed a generational opportunity to crush Dems at the voting both. Pretty easy to condemn the violence, yet embrace the message of BLM.
Just one man's opinion.
