They started screaming "amnesty" and the deal was murdered in it's cradle.
We're giving all the people here illegally amnesty RIGHT NOW. That ship has sailed. It's idiotic to think otherwise.
The ONLY question is: what do we do with them now that they are here?

Sounds like a deal. For just a fraction of the Ukraine money we could end this humanitarian crisis.

Democrats are pretty idiotic in politics. Only took like 30 years to say they can do the same stuff as R's. They lost a lot of ground in the process.

In the meantime, just 2022's illegal immigration has burdened US taxpayers with an estimated $150 billion price tag. $12.5 billion a month. That's the combined GDP of 14 states.

We already saw this play. What happened? Did Trump fix our immigration system and build his wall?
How'd the wall work in Israel, fellas? Awesome, right?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: build the wall so that R's will shut up about it. Anything to get them to see that won't fix the problem.
All you have to so is give the people who are here work VISAs. Now they can work. Now they can be a net benefit, and Waffle's reasonable complaint about costs turns into a massive GDP gain.
Explain why folks don't want to do that? They're here to work. Get the pointless red tape out of the way, and let them work.

Re: Who is supporting the immigrant caravan?
The only thing more dysfunctional than border policies is our POLITICS.
We have a huge low end labor shortage in this country - you could increase work permits to allow these folks to pay taxes and live here - you don't ever have to give any of them citizenship let alone any kind of benefits - treat them exactly the same as the current policy for agriculture including defining labor rates. Start enforcing e-verify as well to prevent companies from gaming the system.
Instead we have stupid politicians like Abbott making things worse by preventing border patrol from accessing the border and the other side screaming about mistreatment and endless other sh*t.
This country is run by two equally incompetent ideologues. A pox on ALL of them.

Unfortunately not. I tell people that the Republicans realized under Obama that doing nothing but villainizing the other side, gets people out to vote. Politicians realize you have a better chance of staying in office if nobody can point to anything that you supported but didn’t work out.Kismet wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 5:03 pmGee - are we THAT bad that RESULTS don't incentivize folks to vote?Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 4:33 pm It’s an issue to drive people to vote.
