NJ 2022

Post by Njlaxx11 »

Any chance a 9-8 win by Don Bosco over Gilman gives NJ lacrosse some credibility!? Always seems like a forgotten state when it comes to the national or regional rankings.

Delbarton thrashed by St. Anthony’s doesn’t help but SHP has a few out of state games, playing Iona Prep, Malvern Prep and Brunswick.

Lawrenceville was being given some kudos... until they lost to Calvert Hall and Boys Latin.

Honestly if anything I thought that game kind of hurt Don Boco's standing in my eyes. Gilman is mid-tier at best in the MIAA; I would have expected Bosco to handle them with ease given what they brought back from last year's TOC winning team.

SHP will have plenty of chances to gather some marquee wins for NJ. Rumson-Fair Haven who almost took them out also has a couple of good out of state games against IMG and New Canaan. Wish there were some out of state foes on the schedules for Summit, Mountain Lakes, Chatham, Westfield, etc...

For reference, Boys Latin beat Gilman 16-3 yesterday.

I guess I hadn’t realized how much Gilman fell off.

Comes down to Lakes/Rumson tomorrow.

Also news, Ric Beardsley announced as the HC at Bergen Catholic HS. Thought he had a bit of a bad outing from
CBA, anyone have any insight?

from what i've seen on teams Instagrams, they already have. NJ doesn't seem to do a great job of publicizing them.

Most Tournament of Champion Titles
7 Delbarton
4 Mountain Lakes
3 Bridgewater-Raritan
2 Summit
1 Don Bosco Prep
1 Ridge

It started in 2004 - obviously no TOC in 2020.

yep. not sure how i feel about it really - i'm not too familiar how other states operate. i did like the idea of a single champion though.

NJ is the only state that does something like this and will join all the others in NOT doing it in 2023.

Funny how NJ.com gets to charge you to be able to see the awards that are (for the majority) students in publicly funded schools.

nj.com charges for almost everything now. it's a shame - it usually has great coverage of HS sports. i'm not paying for it so i barely frequent the site anymore.
