I’d say 16-10 vs Gonzaga is pretty impressive. Best public school team in VA? Hard to say in these crazy times. I’ve watched another Rams team on Livestream and they look pretty good.

Updated rankings-- the early season jitters are getting worked out
6.
1 Robo- clear favorite (wide open after them)
2-4 (Yorktown, Langley, Madison) flip a coin
5-6 (Battlefield, Patriot) they could be 2-4, lack of competition may hurt them
7-8 (Chantilly, Oakton)
9-13 (Centreville, Woodson, Westfield, Mclean)

5.
1 Riverside - need some competition to prepare them for the Richmond teams at states
2 no one

4.
1 Dominion
2-4 No one
5 Loudon County

COVID program causalities: South Lakes, South County, Stone Bridge ----What happened???????????

All the old Stone Bridge (Belmont) players now live in the Riverside boundary. See Maltz family.

Also add 2x defending 5A champs BW to the list. They are a long way from 2019

I think its a little unfair to say 2-4 is no one in 4A Lo-County had 9 minutes of penalties (5 minutes non-releasable) which resulted in 8 man down goals- in a 20-14 game, Also know on good word, County had players out on Covid protocol. I think it is a much tighter game than you think second time around, 4-A has some ballers.

A circling cicada flying by said it was Madison 3-2 at the half before the monsoons canceled the game. Is region 6 tightening up? or should that Madison coach be looking for a college job- he's the real deal!

6A Rankings

1) Robinson (Losing a half to Madison isn't enough to get bumped from #1)
2) Battlefield (waxed Patriot 9-1)
3) Yorktown (beat Langley on Friday)
4) Langley (beat Madison)
5) Madison
6) Patriot

This is a solid list but Battlefield split games with Patriot so Yorktown is #2. 5a is still the top group as Riverside and Freedom would be #1 and #2-3

Having seen each of these teams throughout the season as well as off-season tournaments I'll stand by my rankings for this week. Yorktown's D is one of the best units around but their offense hasn't shown enough to this point. Their schedule may be the softest in the area. Patriot was hyped to be the team to challenge Robinson. Battlefield exposed them for who they are on Thursday. They have a few really good players in Fairchild and Castleman but losing 9-1 to your rival in a district championship game tells me who the better team is. Langley should play Yorktown again in their district tournament final and it should be a good game. The Langley goalie made some great saves during their first meeting and if he is on his game again it should be a close game. Madison and Yorktown would be a great game in regionals.

I agree that Riverside is the best public team in the state, but didn't Freedom just lose to a 2-4 Stone Bridge team?

I meant to put Dominion but typed Freedom.

Dominion's toughest opponent this season has been Loudoun Valley. Coach Inman is a great coach but LV isn't exactly a lacrosse hotbed. Dominion would struggle with Yorktown, Battlefield, Madison, or Langley. Even Patriot would be a tough game for them.

They would all do the same - lose.

Rankings algorithm really has a hard time when all Virginia schools were supposed to play within their divisions.

You could select an all star team from teams 1-9, and they’d still lose to Riverside.

Didnt valley lose to Broad run and County? Valley is not even in the top 3 in there district. County and broad run gave dominion a better game, valley got smoked 16-3.
