The 2021 CCIW regular season, along with other Midwest lacrosse conferences (NACC, MIAA, MLC) had a very successful year in handling the Covid restrictions. Travel restrictions limited the number of over night trips, so most OOC games were against teams in the Midwest geographical area. While there were a number of cancelled or postponed games and restrictions reduced the fan levels and game energy, most teams and their players were able to play a relatively full slate of games. Looking forward to the full return in 2022.

The 2021 CCIW regular season results are in:

Illinois Wesleyan 6-0 11-1
North Central College 5-1 11-1
Carthage College 4-2 10-3
Elmhurst University 3-3 10-5
Augustana College 2-4 6-6
Univ of Dubuque 1-5 5-9
Carroll University 0-6 0-6

Notes:
IWUs 4th straight CCIW regular season championship
North Central College’s 1st CCIW tournament

2021 CCIW Men’s lacrosse tourney bracket is set:

Semifinals - Wed, May 4
No. 4 Elmhurst at No. 1 IWU, 7:30 pm
No. 3 Carthage at No. 2 NCC, 7:30 pm

Final - Saturday, May 8
Tournament champion is the CCIW’s automatic qualifier in the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship

Congrats to IWU for winning the CCIW tournament, beating North Central College in OT by the score 18-17.

Both IWU and NCC won their semi-final games handily. As a couple of people mentioned on social media posts, the final was an exciting, hard fought, back and forth game.

IWU continues their conference dominance, with their 4th straight regular season and conference tournament championship.

NCC fell just short in a extending their season of firsts. In their 4th full year of the program, they beat for the first time Aurora, Elmhurst, Augustana, and Carthage (twice), making the CCIW tourney for the first time.

Congrats to IWU on winning the conference championship. I tip my hat to both teams IWU and NCC on playing arguably the game of the year in NCAA lax this year. Both teams left it all in the field and played a very entertaining game. These teams play lacrosse the way it’s supposed to be played. All out effort for 60 plus minutes for both teams. It’s a shame someone had to lose this one.

CCIW All-Conference Team

Elite 8 isn’t out the question for IWU.
