Re: SAC
Queens has really fallen. Lucky if they finish 4th in conference this year. Since coaching change in 16 they have continued to decline each year as the previous coaches players and recruits have moved on. Administration is talking about D 1 and Queens cant even compete at a high level in D2 anymore. Sad to see how administration has just let program wither on the vine by not supporting it.
Re: SAC
But the conference has gotten much better as well, as the addition of Stone, and the programs from Anderson and Newberry doing quite well is part of what is happening...Warrior62 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 3:02 pm Queens has really fallen. Re: SAC
Limestone easily handled Anderson. How did Anderson beat Wingate and play LR tough into the second half? injuries on either side?
Re: SAC
I think Stone has improved more than Wingate - and AFAIK there were no significant injuries for either team. In my latest run of KRACH Stone has moved to #2 over Rollins, and Wingate is #13.Laxwarrior wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 9:22 am Limestone easily handled Anderson. Cam Weeks dropped from a season 84% on faceoffs to 82% when he went 4 of 11...Stone was 18/26 on faceoffs. So the vaunted advantage for the Trojans on faceoff just not only did not materialize, but was demolished.
Some telling stats: shots LU 63, AU 28; SOG LU 36, AU 12; TO AU 31 (21 caused), LU 22 (7 caused); clears LU 15/18, AU 15/24; EMO LU 3/4, AU 1/8.
Re: SAC
Was a trap game for Wingate, and the bulldogs have problems at the faceoff X where Anderson def took advantage. Not taking anything away from Anderson but I wouldn’t say that’s a game to judge the level of Wingate.Laxwarrior wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 9:22 am Limestone easily handled Anderson. Other games since have seen Wingate sub the starters at half, Wednesday should be a good indication of where both LR and Wingate stand.
Re: SAC
LR doubles up on Wingate to take a first place tie and push the Bulldogs to third in the conference race with a few games remaining before the conference tournament. Stone beats Queens 14-9 to share that first place with LR, but has the tiebreaker.
Current standings:
1. Stone (7-1) Games left: Coker, Catawba; has victory over LR, so currently in #1 seed position
1. LR (7-1) Games left: @LMU, @Mars Hill
3. Wingate (7-2) Games left: @Tusculum
4. Queens (4-3) Games left: @Anderson, @LMU. Catawba
4. Catawba (4-3) Games left: Tusculum, @Stone, @Queens
6. Anderson (4-4) Games left: Queens, @Coker
6. Newberry (4-4) Games left: Mars Hill, @LMU
8. Tusculum (3-5) Games left: @Catawba, Wingate
---
9. Coker (2-6) Games left: @Stone, Anderson
10. LMU (1-6) Games left: LR, Queens, Newberry
11. Mars Hill (0-8) Games left: @Newberry, LR
Most likely scenario: Top four win out and take the home seeds. Queens has the hardest remaining schedule of the top top four I listed, and Anderson has beaten Wingate, and Catawba beaten Anderson.
If Queens wins out to a record of 7-3, Catawba likely goes to 5-5, Anderson to 5-5, Newberry jumps behind Queens at 6-4 to get the #5 seed, Catawba at #6, and Anderson at #7. The rest of the field loses out and Tusculum gets the last spot at 3-7.
Alternate not likely scenario - Queens loses to Anderson but keeps the 4 seed due to beating Newberry. Then Anderson gets the #6 seed with Catawba at #7.
Current standings:
1. Stone (7-1) Games left: Coker, Catawba; has victory over LR, so currently in #1 seed position
1. LR (7-1) Games left: @LMU, @Mars Hill
3. Wingate (7-2) Games left: @Tusculum
4. Queens (4-3) Games left: @Anderson, @LMU. Catawba
4. Catawba (4-3) Games left: Tusculum, @Stone, @Queens
6. Anderson (4-4) Games left: Queens, @Coker
6. Newberry (4-4) Games left: Mars Hill, @LMU
8. Tusculum (3-5) Games left: @Catawba, Wingate
---
9. Coker (2-6) Games left: @Stone, Anderson
10. LMU (1-6) Games left: LR, Queens, Newberry
11. Mars Hill (0-8) Games left: @Newberry, LR
Most likely scenario: Top four win out and take the home seeds. Queens has the hardest remaining schedule of the top top four I listed, and Anderson has beaten Wingate, and Catawba beaten Anderson.

Re: SAC
I expect that there will be an announcement fairly soon with respect to a D1 move (maybe waiting for either tourneys to finish or even the SAC meeting in June). Movement of teams in D1 is creating a need for lower level D1 conferences to refill quickly to avoid becoming irrelevant/defunct with everyone leaving so a lot of doors have been opened for a school like Queens which has explicitly said it is exploring D1.
Two other schools making the leap from D2 are Lindenwood and Stonehill - and both are starting with full D1 schedules beginning next fall.

Is it not Top 6 for playoffs?
Re: SAC
You are correct - so Stone and LR get the byes. Most likely scenario (top four win out) you have Wingate one of the quarterfinal hosts along with Queens as the other. Bulldogs host Catawba and Queens hosts Newberry. Then the first winner plays against LR and the second Stone for the semis @LR.

Re: SAC
I haven't seen LR for a while. are they looking that much better than earlier? I think Moffit or someone was hurt earlier.
Re: SAC
I took in a bit of the LR-Queens game which LR won by 2, but they doubled up on Wingate 10-5 on Wednesday. Moffitt has played at least in the last four games (Queens was four games ago).Laxwarrior wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 3:57 pm I haven't seen LR for a while. are they looking that much better than earlier? Most likely scenario: Top four win out and Stone and LR take the bye seeds. As long as Queens beats LMU and Catawba, Wingate and Queens are the #3/#4 seed quarterfinal hosts. Catawba ends at 5-5 in that scenario if they can beat Tusculum tonight, which ties them with Anderson after they beat Coker. But Catawba gets the 6th spot with their win over Anderson (also at 5-5). Re: SAC
Great effort by Newberry taking Queens to OT after spotting them a 5-1 lead in 1st quarter. Could have gone either way in OT. Both had chances. Great game.

Especially when Queens had them at one point down 9-3.greatwhitenorth wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 10:25 am Great effort by Newberry taking Queens to OT after spotting them a 5-1 lead in 1st quarter. Could have gone either way in OT. Both had chances. Great game.
Re: SAC
Queens does get two more goals against Stone in their rematch - Saints win 16-11 in the SAC semis. L-R downs Wingate 17-13, using a 7-2 second period to build a lead they would not give up...
Saints (#1 seed) against L-R (#2 seed) in the final at 4 on Sunday... Should be a great game!
