Didn't Sean Creter win NJ Middie of the Year last year?
Yes, but that was only because Engleke won specialist of the year. Kurdyla is easily the better offensive and defensive middie of the two.
Creter is a fantastic face off guy but this year he will have to carry the extra load of being the main focus of the offensive for his team and that is going to be a very tough trick. Kurdyla has been the best middie on his team since he stepped on the field. This is not hyperbole I have seen both of them play multiple times.

at UMD, Creter isn't going to play offense. He'll be a fogo there. Kurdyla is a real threat.

Haven't seen Kurdyla play live, so I'll defer to you there. But it's just weird they'd give the award to Creter. I mean...he didn't win specialist of the year, tough luck maybe this year. Why give him middie of the year then? Bizarre logic there by our state.

Sometimes the awards are more like lifetime achievement awards and while Creter had a better year at the X then Engleke and a better year overall they gave Engleke the Specialist of the year and Creter middie of the Year. Happened the year prior with the goalies as Daly won Goalie of the year based on his over career performance but in the Year the Kid from BR had a better year in the goal. Sometimes it just happens that way. Creter is very good and an excellent face off guy but Kurdyla is the real deal.

Kurdyla might be the best middie in the country. He's that good. I think anyone who knows Jersey lacrosse would say he's very clearly the best middie in the state, and likely the best overall player.

On a sad note, Rutgers Lacrosse lost one of their own. Cancer is horrible thing.

"Originally from Geneva, New York, Holly began his industry career in the mailroom at CAA following graduation from Rutgers University, where he played lacrosse. He later became an agent at Buchwald and went on to form the management company, Epiphany Alliance, Inc. In 2006, Holly teamed with client, Fred Goss, to create the half-hour comedy, Sons & Daughters, produced with Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video, which aired for one season on ABC. Holly managed a slate of writers for film, television, and Broadway, including Nell Benjamin, Matthew Flanagan, David McHugh, and Larry O’Keefe, among others."

Yes, open to the public. Should be a good early test to see who some of the young kids are and how the transfers fit in.

The Knights won in convincing fashion. I don't know what Boston University's prospective season outlook looks like, but the Knights were bigger, stronger, faster, deeper. Palma got the first start in goal and the attack looked very strong, as did the midfield.

Scoring seemed very spread between the attack and midfield. In the second half 3 lines were being run in addition to the rope unit which seemed very good. Lots to be positive about if you are a Rutgers fan. Final score unofficially was 20-8 after 4 quarters. They played a 5th quarter where I don't believe BU was able to tack on anymore. I think Rutgers had 2 or 3 more.

Results don't matter in a scrimmage but the athleticism, size and speed of Rutgers was noticeably different than BU.

I heard as much…scrimmage season is what it is, and lots of teams work on different things, breaking in new guys or guys not playing guys/starters as a precaution. With that said, I heard RU pretty much handled BU in every phase up and down the field…

Like the last couple years, RU has big athletes that can run and play…what that means for this year, who knows, but it’s great to be ramping up here in 2023

Impressed with Rutgers play for a first scrimmage. Lots of new pieces melded with a solid core. Older parents I spoke to said it was the best they have looked this early. The new SSDM guys looked solid, athletic and physical. Goalie play was very good. If BU is as strong as many have stated, this year's version of Rutgers is very encouraging. Not worth going too deep into the weeds cause it is just one snapshot and it is so early.

Scrimmages are a snapshot of what’s going on right?? It’s not the end all be all and teams and coaches use scrimmages for different things. As you and others note, you cant over value or get too deep in the weeds because after all, it’s a scrimmage…but you’d much rather look like RU did yesterday vs BU…and that’s not debatable.

RU has now had a taste of success now the last two years being in 2 quarters and a final four…the tough part is ahead of them now and that’s stabilizing at that high level (consistent top 10)…and getting over that one hurdle that they have not been able to conquer since joining the B1G…beating MD…

Not sure how this year plays out. MD we be very good, OSU looks to be tough as well…but RU has all the makings of a team that can be strong again this year…even with all the key losses from last year…time will tell…it’s early

Yeah this is a rare area I agree with 18th century in general. It doesn’t even come across as fun like when I talk about how much Syracuse sucks* and my hatred of Cornell. Just seems petty.

*to be clear Syracuse does suck. It’s science and my “scientific spec-ee-ality” - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WYEBuF-0vlU

Don't believe me, ask Michael

See Jesus, Judas; Caesar, Brutus

and we all know we're just getting started on this thread! iorin, you're gonna be in for a long year vs rutty fans if you're into it already.
