Surprised that Madronic hasn’t made a decision yet. Has connections from HS at Notre Dame. He can play attack or midfield. Would seemingly be a good fit there…but maybe he wants to play for a tournament team?
Pass, Birch feasted on the bad competition at the shore and while he is a good shooter, never thought he was athletic enough to be a bit time D1 player
Hofstra would be a good fit for Birch IMO.
Advocating a transfer take time from a kid already in the program?! Tsk tsk.

Derrek Madonna has to be a hot pickup for someone in a blue blood program . . . 33 goals in 11 games as a middie and 5 Man Up. TWO 6 goal games AS A MIDDIE.

How isn't he on the wish list of many teams needing a piece to make a playoff run?

Richmond is his likely destination, wants to play with his brother.

Then why hasn't he announced that yet? Been out there a while (and his brother likely could have gone to Hobart originally too).

I know nothing of Madonna's plans but not every kid "announces" his new destination. Some just quietly make a decision and unless you know him directly are not going to find out about it immediately.

So will all all these guys in the portal be able to be enrolled for this fall - or how does that usually go? I assume there is a deadline at somepoint - right?

They can enroll probably up until the school year starts. I think for the grad students it's actually getting into the programs they are specifically looking for.

I suspect many, maybe even most, student-athletes entering the transfer portal do not find a new home. Just the way it is, as transfer opportunities are limited.

I suspect going into the portal is like leaving a job most kids will already have a landing spot before they enter portal, some might have a couple of options like Hudgins so might take some time to decide.

I would equate the transfer portal more with what it is rather than a job analogy. Potential transfers are applying to a new school and have to be accepted to the school, accepted to their desired program, have sufficient funding available and of course the lacrosse aspect. Some have not taken GRE but will later on. Some are taking summer school. Some are finding out the school they want will not accept some (all in some cases) of their classes. Some are not even admitted.

I had a long talk with some staff members of an athletic department that has been mentioned as a light player (i.e. few transfers brought in) and they said the portal is a very low priority as the school is not making any exceptions to help transfers.

It’s pretty simple. To speak with a coach at another school (and for another school’s coach to speak with you), you must either be in the portal or admitted to the school and have paid the deposit. So, there are guys in the latter category who are “undetected” by the portal watchers. Those in the portal are likely talking with several coaches.

Is it? I’m not sure who is returning but they were all Seniors. Do their starters have a C19 year? Really good goalie but …
