Any predictions for Liam Bateman's productivity in 2022? Last season, as a Junior, he put up some points but nothing to jump up and down about. What about this season?

He’s trending up. There should be more opportunities for him this year on offense. He is killer in transition and unsettled, so my guess is the staff will use him on the faceoff wings much more since they lost a couple go-to wing guys. I’d expect his numbers to increase.

Hopefully true. Just uncommon, though not unheard of, for a relatively low performing Junior to step up big-time as a senior. But this may be one of those exceptions.

Bateman will be just fine, along with all of the other returning players. I recall that he had a wicked goal against Villanova in the scrimmage this Fall. He's an arrow in Coach Van's quiver. :D

If the Hounds stay healthy.... ;)

To have a great season, you need depth...I think the Hounds have that in spades if we start off healthy...

Here are the guys I think will be key contributors...

If all guys are ready, I feel pretty sure these are your top 6 offensive guys that we will lean on a lot (in no order)

Olmstead - Sr (last year)
Lindley - Sr (last year)
Poitras - Jr (3 years eligibility left)
Kamish - Jr (3 years eligibility left)
James - Jr (3 years eligibility left)
Higgins - So (3 years eligibility left)

The next four guys that will be heavily counted on...

Wigley - Sr (last year)
Bateman - Sr (2 years eligibility left)
Seay - Sr (2 years eligibility left)
Lindsey - So (4 years eligibility left)

I'm sure there will be other guys emerge , but out of the gate, based on what we know, what we saw the last two years...those are guys were gonna lean on...

Hope for good health and with a full compliment of those guys above...watch out

Go Hounds!

Interesting commentary

So let me ask you this or make comment...

You note potentially using Bateman on the wing...is he a guy that could flip to being more of an SSDM that can also be skilled in transition and early offense? Is he that kind of an athlete that can get after it on defense...because if he is...that would be ideal...I'm a huge fan of taking your athletes in the middle of the field that have an offensive skill set and playing them at SSDM...the right guys can be lethal in that role...

I actually think SSDM is our biggest weakness right now in terms of proven depth...other than Rezanka (who I love)...we are thin...Higgins and Benus are gone...IMO, this is the most important position group on the field...I'd look for someone we have in a crowded offensive room to make a move...

A I don't look at this type of move as a slight...I look at it as a huge move to the hardest position on the field to play

SSDM is a position group to keep an eye on...very important

I’d love to see Bateman at ssdm.
He’s certainly athletic enough, can pick the ball off the carpet and would be dangerous in transition.
It is a tough position to play, but he does fit the mold of the types that can be successful there. I do think it’s one of the hardest positions on the field.

I believe they are talking “fantasy lacrosse” for their teams.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

love how you come in and make fun of people for no reason - yes, it was for the fanlax fantasy league. i was asking about a player i had drafted 2 years ago in najee taylor. i drafted him mainly from all the buzz on the loyola threads and so far he's done nothing there.

Anyway you try to spin it not a big fan, maybe the kid was home sick first year, maybe having hard time with school etc, I hope you drop him and he has a big year. I just feel there is a better more constructive way to get your point across IMO

i said nothing demeaning about him - i said he came in with a lot of hype and hasn't lived up to it. where's the problem in that?

it's the internet, if your feelings get hurt too easily you should steer clear of it.

Go Hounds!
Lot of talent and depth with these players. Agree that SSDM is perhaps most critical position behind good goalie play. Cain has moved to SSDM per scrimmages this Fall. Rezanka is a beast and legit AA. If McGory and Sherwood have good year watch out. D Poles will have to carry a lot of the weight early on as the new group settles in.

Bateman remains on offense.

That's all I have ...

The Covid backlog hasn't helped Mr. Taylor. The Hounds are deep.
Things will open up. I think his time will come.
