Have you looked at our wins? Could be 3-6 just as easily. Only MsM & Mack wins were “clean”

FarfromGeneva is right, but so is 6foot. If I'm a team leader, I make "6 more goals" the motto of the off-season. And I start practicing shooting yesterday. And I start to work getting Knox back.
There are some good tattoo parlors that could give a discount to the EMO team if they wanted to remember it for next year.
In all seriousness, what a great league for us. I was bitter after not being taken fully into the Patriot league, but I think we've got a good home in the NEC. Now time to strengthen the non-league games. SU, Cornell, and Colgate for sure. Who else?

Agreed though it’s the way we needed OT to beat Wags, gave up big lead vs SJU and then again nearly so w SHU. Bryant game was probably the only game we finished strong all year.

We have to get back 1-2 better OOC games in the context of NEC vs PL and ECAC conference schedule strength YOY. Used to still have Brown, Towson, GTown, UVM and some others mixed in there. Karweck looks like hes running a legacy Colgate program rather than the Nagle version and clear Siena won’t be a Brecht level team anytime soon. Canisius has beaten us once in 30yrs. I get cost effective regional travel so then how about an AE or another IVY program or CAA.

Somerset, NJ -- Following a stellar freshman campaign that saw him earn Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Year and first team All-NEC honors back in 2019, Saint Joseph’s junior faceoff specialist Zach Cole (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) can now add 2021 NEC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Year to his growing list of impressive accolades.

Cole was joined by his head coach Taylor Wray on the list of major award winners announced by the conference on the eve of the 2021 NEC final. Wray was tabbed the NEC Coach of the Year by his peers for the fifth time in the last seven years.

LIU also fared well in the postseason award voting, taking home two significant honors by way of a pair of sophomore stars. Attacker Richie LaCalandra (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) earned NEC Offensive Player of the Year recognition and goalkeeper Will Mark (Danville, CA/Proctor Academy) captured the NEC Defensive Player of the Year award.

NEC Rookie of the Year plaudits went to Bryant freshman attacker Bennett Abladian (Londonderry, NH/Bishop Guertin).

Cole has been a dominant force at the X for the undefeated NEC regular season champion Hawks, leading the conference and ranking fifth nationally with a .709 faceoff percentage. In a win over Merrimack on March 20, he won 18-of-19 faceoffs with the .947 win percentage the third-highest in DI game this season. The two-time NEC Player of the Week from Mount Laurel, NJ also paces the circuit and sits second nationally with 11.33 ground balls per game. Cole, who became SJU’s all-time ground balls leader (310) with a season-high 14 in the Hawks’ NEC semifinal win over LIU on Wednesday, is the second Hawk to take home the NEC Player of the Year award, SJU all-time great Mike Rastivo received the honor back in 2015. A two-time NEC Player of the Week this season, was named to the USILA Team of the Week on March 23 and has been tabbed to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.

Earning distinction as LIU’s first-ever NEC Offensive Player of the Year, LaCalandra emerged this season as an elite point producer for the Sharks. His 5.64 points per game leads the NEC by a wide margin and ranks fourth in the nation. LaCalandra also tops the conference in assists per game (2.64) and goals per game (3.08), which put him 10th and 11th in the country, respectively, at this time. The Port Jefferson Station, NY product produced at least five points in eight-of-11 games, highlighted by a six-goal, five-assist outing in a win over Mount St. Mary’s on April 17. He ended his season with 33 goals, 29 assists and 62 points, all league-leading figures.

Mark also made history as LIU’s initial NEC Defensive Player of the Year recipient after serving as a brick wall in between the pipes for LIU. There are few better across the nation than Mark, who leads DI in saves per game (17.45), more than two stops ahead of his closest competitor. His 30 saves in LIU’s regular season finale against Bryant stands as the NEC single-game season-high. The Danville, CA native also currently ranks first in the NEC and ninth in the country in save percentage, turning away shots at a 57.7 percent clip. Four times this season Mark was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week as he backstopped the Sharks to a 5-3 conference record and the program’s first NEC Tournament berth.

For the fifth time in the 11-year history of the award, a Bryant student-athlete took home NEC Rookie of the Year honors. Abladian picked up steam throughout the season, picking up three NEC Rookie of the Week honors on his way to leading Bryant with 26 goals and 34 points heading into Friday’s NEC Championship game against Saint Joseph’s. Abladian, who hails from Londonderry, NH, ranks seventh in the conference with 2.36 goals per game and his 3.09 points per game puts him in tenth place. He has racked up 14 goals in his last three outings, including a game-high five in Bryant’s 14-12 win at Hobart in Wednesday’s semis. Abladian joined fellow Bulldogs Kevin Massa (2012), Shane Morrell (2013), Tucker James (2014) and Marc O’Rourke (2018) as NEC Rookie of the Year winners.

Wray’s fifth NEC Coach of the Year honor extended his own conference record, and comes after he guided Saint Joseph’s to its fifth NEC regular season title, all coming in the last seven years. With an 8-0 mark, the Hawks finished unbeaten against league rivals for the fourth time and boosted the program’s all-time NEC record to a stellar 36-8 (.818) since joining the conference in 2014. Featuring a lockdown defense that ranks first in the conference in goals against average (9.86), caused turnovers per game (9.33) and penalty killing percentage (.816), Saint Joseph’s has excelled in tightly contested games, winning three one-goal affairs in NEC play, including two overtime victories. Ranked nationally in both the Inside Lacrosse and USILA polls, Saint Joseph’s will host Sunday’s NEC title game with its sights set on the program’s first-ever conference tournament crown.

In addition to the five major awards winners, the league unveiled its All-NEC first and second teams and an NEC All-Rookie squad. All honorees were determined by a vote of the conference’s head coaches.

AWARD WINNER HIGHLIGHTS

Hobart placed a league-high eight student-athletes on the All-NEC teams, followed by regular season champion Saint Joseph’s with seven. The Hawks landed an NEC-best four players on the first team. LIU earned five all-conference selections, followed by Bryant with three, two apiece for Merrimack and Sacred Heart, and one for Mount St. Mary’s.

Bryant junior attack Marc O’Rourke (Hingham, MA/Hingham) and senior long stick midfielder Zach Coffey (West Newbury, MA/The Governor’s Academy) are the most decorated honorees on this year’s All-NEC lists. Both are now three-time all-stars with O’Rourke picking up second team honors following a pair of first team selections in 2018 and 2019, while Coffey made it back-to-back first team nods on top of his second team status back in 2018. O’Rourke has scored 16 goals in three matches this season, including four in the NEC semis. Coffey is fourth on Bryant in ground balls (23) and fifth in caused turnovers (10).

Along with Cole and Coffey, repeat first team honorees include Hobart junior defender Michael Christiansen (Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) and Sacred Heart senior midfielder Logan Liljeberg (Wrentham, MA/LaSalle Academy (RI)). Christiansen anchors a Hobart defense that ranks second in the league in goals against average (10.97), while Liljeberg is tied for tenth among NEC leaders in goals per game (2.00) and fourth in assists per game (2.09).

Hobart attackers Ryan Archer (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) and Derrek Madonna (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa), along with Mount St. Mary’s senior defender Bryan McIntosh (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks East), also made their second appearances on All-NEC squads. Archer (16 goals, 16 assists) earned first team recognition and Madonna (team-leading 22 goals) was tabbed to the second team. Both picked up second team nods in 2018 and 2019, respectively. McIntosh was an All-NEC first teamer for the Mount in 2019 and followed with second team honors this spring. He is the league leader with 2.25 caused turnovers per game.

No true freshman picked up All-NEC plaudits, however Bryant redshirt freshman attacker Logan McGovern (Darien, CT/Darien) - who is second in the conference with 4.11 points per game - was named to the second team.

All four Saint Joseph’s first team honorees will be back next year, led by Cole. He was joined on the first team by sophomore attack Matt Bohmer (Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Catholic), junior midfielder Levi Anderson (Calgary, Alberta/Crescent Heights) and sophomore defender Pat Clemens (Springfield, PA/Springfield). Bohmer currently ranks third in the league with 2.50 goals per game. Clemens leads the Hawks in caused turnovers (16) and anchors a SJU defense that paces the league in goals against average (9.76). Anderson, fresh off a hat trick in the NEC semis, is third on the Hawks with 19 goals.

Formal commitment for Hobart is just sending in deposit right? I know letters are signed but absent athletic money commitment has always been a nebulous concept for us (Ben Reeves, need another decade to get over that one, losing Jack Wilson wasn’t great either to BU)

I guess I'm the only one watching the William Smith Lax team. Yesterday they beat up on Meredith College 19 to 3 and today they play the #1 seed Franklin and Marshall. Good for them.
Saturday I watched a good part of ladies game between Loyola and Lehigh. Very impressive. these ladies are always moving, great passing on the move and in this game saw no turnovers. Take out the physical part of lacrosse and the ladies would give the boys more than they can handle.

I actually love the athleticism of women's lacrosse. The two teams support each other pretty strongly from what I hear.

I had a great time interacting w WS lax members during my day so no issues just don’t like comparing things that are fundamentally different.

Funny thing I noticed: as of now Adam Shea is #1 career FO % in D1 for Bart. Ahead of both Datillo and Pedicine. Obviously far less draws but not like he’s taken 50 cumulative. (211 vs 978 & 1039 for those two)

Fun to watch WS game. Solid 12 to 2 lead with 20 min to go.
I agree on not comparing apples and oranges, but I do wish the Hobart men would see how the WS off ball movement opens opportunities. Off ball movement is good in sports from lacrosse to basketball to soccer ...

I hear you but you also hit it well in commenting that what looked like a reloading turned into rebuilding with a lot of kids who haven’t played lacrosse in 1.5-2yrs. Even the Sophs really only are through a years worth of games.

I see William Smith in the next championship round, is playing St. John Fisher in Waterville, Maine.... funny since they're just down the road from each other. Of course the game is Saturday and I guess the winner plays someone on Sunday at that venue.

I'm not usually a fan of anything Syracuse, but I have been watching the Orangewomen play lacrosse for years. The players can flat out fly, and their stick skills are amazing. Gait has them playing a very attractive style of lacrosse that any fan of the game should love. I highly recommend watching them play, especially against any other ACC team.

No one has said a thing about the All-NEC team yet. I thought we did pretty well, although Madonna was first team material.

They put Madonna at attack which he did sort of play but I still think of him as a middie. If he had been then surely he would’ve been1st team. I could quibble w Lilberg who’s been very good for four years but a team that was shut out from winning after a early LIU win probably shouldn’t be getting a 1st team spot unless it’s Kevin Massa level elite compared with alternative options.

SJF beat them by a goal (7-6) back on March 20th in the season opener. Hopefully the Herons will keep rolling like they did over former #1 F&M. It would be really cool to see a NC come back to Geneva if they can keep advancing. This matchup is for a ticket to the final four. Herons haven't played for a NC since 95. Interesting they'd have to go thru SJF and possibly Cortland to get there....

Yeah but that's Syracuse. It's embedded in their dna.

Didn't work out so well in 06 with Coluccini in 2006 at least...
