New names new faces new legacies should make this a great game.

Checked out the Hoya's stats page and it looks like they can score in bunches (two 50 goal scorers , one with 30, and midfielder Wittenbery with 23g 35as). They face off at about 50% so the numbers suggest there is a good chance TD Ierlan can get his mojo going again. I watched the Hoyas make a valiant comeback against Loyola so I expect them to show plenty of grit even on FOs. Should be a terrific game.

I dunno. Gtown beating Denver is very different than Gtown beating Yale.

Yale is one heck of a challenge for Hoyas no doubt. But let’s not discount Denver too much here. Denver Lost to #2 seed in Durham by 1 goal, beat the 6th seed Towson and lost by 3 to #8 ND in South Bend. They also beat UnC who had 3 seed UVA down by 4 in 4th of ACC semis. Denver then lost at home with NCAA bid on the line to Hoyas by 3 in BE Title game.

I don't think it's discounting Denver too much to mention that it lost to Princeton, a team that finished 5th in the Ivy League.

The real issue obviously isn't how good Denver is, it's how good are the Hoyas. Can they beat Yale? Of course they can. They are are very good team who won 13 games who also beat a Villanova team that beat Yale. Their schedule so far hasn't been overly tough, but the same has been true of many of Yale's schedules over the course of their ten year surge wherein the New Haven Bulldogs have nevertheless managed to fight tooth and nail and come within a whisker of upsetting some of the stronger programs in the country on several occasions during the NCAAs before finally breaking through to a championship last season. In addition Georgetown appears to have been getting better as the season has progressed, having won their last 5 games after a bit of a mid season swoon. Yale better be ready for a dogfight, as that is fully what I expect.

A dogfight indeed, Yale has Handsome Dan and Georgetown has Jack the Bulldog. Okay, in all seriousness, Georgetown clearly earned the right to be in the tournament, and I expect the Hoyas to give it their all this Saturday. Saturday is about Georgetown and Yale, not Denver. Plenty of us recall that Yale had a first-round home game in 2016 that ended in an upset by Navy. They play the games for a reason, and I expect that Yale will need to play well to win.
