Re: James Madison
Go Dukes! Nice to see them play CAA north pod team Hofstra at a neutral site at Sparks, Md. I find it incredulous however that the JMU fieldhockey team can travel to Long Island and Boston to play Hofstra and Northeastern respectively. What gives JMU admin? Also, JMU can play Elon and UNC which is 4 hours away but they can't go to Towson or Delaware???? Both are 2-3 hours from HBurg.
Re: James Madison
I’ve been saying that for months! Why not hold more games at neutral site - US lax headquarters in MD??? So maybe teams from south not wanting to come all the way up to play Northern teams....play here at neutral site....there are so many ways you can make season work.livelovelax wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 7:37 am Go Dukes! Re: James Madison
In the midst of the topsy-turvy season that '22 is for the Dukes, they square up with the Terps on the Weird Field this Saturday for their toughest test remaining in the regular season. It will be a perfect opportunity for James Madison to make a statement. The Dukes have been playing Maryland since 1974! They are 3-42 lifetime with their last win coming back in 2003. They are currently in a 12 straight loss situation against Maryland. Coach Shelley Klaes has never defeated the Terps. It would be a nice accomplishment for Klaes in her career.
Re: James Madison
Credit to JMU for putting a very tough schedule together. None of those first 10 games you would look at beforehand and say with no doubt that JMU will win this easily by 10+. Good wins over Richmond and UVA and doing well in the CAA will get them an at large bid

Re: James Madison
JMU managed to defeat UVA last Sunday with two of their best players sidelined. One to a YC in the first minute of the second half and another to an injury in the first half. Maryland is looking very much improved and deserves the #3 ranking but you never know.
Re: James Madison
I think Maryland is better than UVA...that said, JMU has the make up to play MD well. I wouldnt be surprised if JMU gives them a good game.livelovelax wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 10:54 am JMU managed to defeat UVA last Sunday with two of their best players sidelined. Maryland beat Penn -- a decent but hardly top quality Penn -- last night 15-11, getting outscored in the second half 6-4 by Penn. Penn scored 6 in the fourth quarter and two of them in the last 35 seconds -- maybe junk time. Still, not an overwhelming win. I think JMU is better than Penn. So the game on the Weird Field this Saturday could well be competitive.Dr. Tact wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 11:25 amI think Maryland is better than UVA...that said, JMU has the make up to play MD well. Re: James Madison
Tomorrow's game at the Weird Field* vs Maryland is the last big game in the regular season for the Dukes. As some have suggested, it's not outside the realm of possibility that JMU pulls the upset. They'll have to play their best game of the year to do it but we've seen JMU beat teams ranked way above them before. Coach Klaes knows lacrosse. She coached a team to a national championship title a few years ago. It would be a heart punch of sorts for the Dukes to take down a top 3 team (although I'm still not sold on the Terps this season) to put the cherry on their '22 regular season, and would certainly help their RPI and seeding in the Tournament. There's no lack of motivating factors for the Dukes tomorrow. We'll see how they do soon enough.
JMU's schedule the rest of the way: at Maryland; vs Towson; at Hofstra; vs Elon; vs Liberty; at W&M; vs Delaware; at Drexel.
*Note--seacoaster coined this clever moniker years ago.

I like Maryland in this match up. Even during the JMU 2018 championship year their only loss was to Maryland. The match up favors Maryland with their ability to generate offense and especially their defense. JMU appears to struggle a bit scoring wise.
