Thanks for posting, definitely games on I wouldn't have known about.
That's showing Hop-Md playing again today but neither schedule shows
that. That's not happenin', is it?

Hop and MD have already played their two games against each other. MD won at HOP in OT and MD won at home by 1 in the last minute of the game.

D1 WOMEN: Weekend’s Best Games (MON 04/26/21)

Best Upsets are marked with an asterisks*. Some teams are under-rated due to having limited quality wins.

Some of this is kind of nuts. A #30 team beating a #3 team would surely be considered an upset by pretty much everyone.
A #3 team beating a #2 team would be considered an upset by pretty much no one.

UNH v. SBU

Post by seacoaster »

I am watching this game between Stony Brook and University of New Hampshire; otherwise I'd have to work. But I have to say: UNH plays extraordinarily poor defense, and Stony Brook is pretty much scoring at 85% efficiency. Running clock with 7:46 left in the first. I don't know how SBU gets itself ready to play good teams with the state of the America East.

13-2 with 5:44 left in the half.

Jeez, Florida and SB's conference games really don't help them prepare for NCAAs

At the same time, they're all but guaranteed a ticket to the National Championship Tourney. though, as you're saying, this doesn't mean they're prepared for the tourney. And... I'm stating the obvious... So i'll stop... :)

I wonder if the Jekyll and Hyde U of FLA is more consistent this year than last. Wow, what a coaster of a team that was....

If I was Lacrosse Czar, I'd move Stony Brook into the AAC conference with Florida. Then we'd have a battle for the conference title.

They hit the absolute pinnacle in their 2nd game when they went into Maryland and ended their 86 game home win streak. One of the spectacular moments of the truncated '20 season. It's understandable they had a comedown next week and got absolutely destroyed by that greyhound team 😉 in front of the home faithful. They rebounded nicely two weeks later over #3 (HA!) Stony Brook after a scrimmage, I mean game with Kennesaw St. But then a few days later in Hanover, again Florida played like they were hungover after a lofty win. Dartmouth beat them in a physical slugfest.

Gators got a chomping 7 yellows--4 times they had to sit for the whole 2.

Then a couple breezy wins at the Diz against a couple of breezy HPU and Navy teams before the Kibosh ended '20. That was a roller coaster year for them all right. You even said so at the time:

One of the best games early in 2022 was to be Northwestern at Boston College. It may still end up being a good game but this edition of Northwestern just doesn't have the same luster without their Top Gun Izzy Scane.

The pregame hype for many games ends up being more compelling than the actual game itself. Sometimes a #1 vs a #2 can end up being a blowout, but nonetheless, some of the most anticipated best games in 2022 will be BC vs Carolina and Syracuse. Northwestern vs Maryland.

How about Johns Hopkins vs Maryland? One(?) more shot for Janine Tucker and the Blue Jays to finally beat the Terps for the first time in program history?

Rutgers games vs conference rivals will be more interesting. Will the Scarlet Knights be able to repeat wins over Maryland, Penn State and JHU? Will they finally beat Northwestern?

'22 season starts in just 81 days...

I don't know how good of a game this will end up being but espn+ lists a 6pm start time for Sunday, Feb 13th. There's only one game on the schedule fitting that time slot which is Michigan at Notre Dame. It will no doubt be indoors which means marginal to poor camerawork unless the team has upgraded. A good test for both teams early on. We know Michigan will work hard but do they have the talent to compete with the Irish who typically come fast out of the gate?

NU vs. UNC in Chapel Hill … finishing home and way series started in 2020. Last match up was a complete shoot out.

Yes--these two teams have a rich evenly matched history playing each other. Quite a few times in the post season too. The Heels currently dominating the series, having won 7 in a row and 9 of the last 10.
