Re: Way too early Final Four

Expectations might be higher as each year (for the last 3) brings in 5th year ringers. That's kind of where I was going - I mean, I thought the '21 team (with Sowers) was going to be unbeatable. And yes, they made the final four but got destroyed by the Terps in the semis. Yes, MD was very, very go...

Re: What's with all the "Power Play" nonsense on ESPN this year?

Brine made a head called the PL77 for defense. It was a bigger head and it did not give at all. Perfect for jabbing attackman in the ribs. And it did not balls down. Problem is you really could not cradle and protect the ball too much. Back in the day defensemen did not do all that much clearing or...

Re: What's with all the "Power Play" nonsense on ESPN this year?

I believe the limit of four longsticks started in 1990. Back in the wooden stick era, middies used to keep their sticks a little longer than attackmen. I’m not sure when the length of shortsticks was made officially between 40 and 44 inches. STX (and perhaps other makers) also had varying head widt...

Re: NJIT

I'm getting around to watching the DI games that I could not watch on Saturday. NJIT was a bit of a flashpoint in the DIII blogs I normally frequent. I just watched the VT game and I respect a good showing on the road v VT, a team and coach I have a lot of respect for. I'll be rooting for NJIT going...

It certainly seems to be the exception(s), but the Amherst and CC games last year were close wins.

Re: What's with all the "Power Play" nonsense on ESPN this year?

Carc is an outlier. I have been to 20-30 college hockey/lax games this year (since Oct 2023) and the programs and announcers without fail used "first year," as do almost all of the streams I watch. Nope, he's not an outlier, might be that way in the little circle you're operating in but c...

Re: What's with all the "Power Play" nonsense on ESPN this year?

I think it is because it is gender neutral. The term "freshman" has been eradicated from any feed I watch (hockey/lax), and several networks use "player up" instead of "man up" as a graphic. I don't agree w/it obviously since it is all men playing, but that's libs for ...

Re: Army 2024

Interesting behavior on the Army bench. So much for "close-order" discipline. They appear to be another bunch of lax bruhs. Nothing wrong with that, per se, but let's take them down off the public encomium pedestal, huh? Want respect for service to your country? Earn it. Chorus line dance...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024

Crazy thing about Kohn is that he didn’t even play lax at Tufts until his junior year. He went there for hockey and played that all three years (one cancelled for COVID), captain senior year. Came out for lax as a junior. Agree, but he was going to play lacrosse freshman year (2020), but hurt his k...

Re: NESCAC

The reason I ask about zone is that Wes has been historically a defensive team which has been the key to their success over the years. Get a great goalie like Otto B who can consistently stop the 20 yard shot, play zone, and let my keeper get 15 - 20 saves a game so that we can win 12 - 10, As long...

Boyden averaging 3 pt a game, and is UVA’s #1 middie. Kohn might be 1st Team AA.
I am HUGE Mason Kohn fan, but Laliberte from Bryant is the best I have seen this year.

At least maybe out of the basement. I don't think Colby has won a Nescac game in the last 4 seasons except v Bates (I could be wrong, not going to look). That is a huge win esp. as some of our esteemed fellow posters had CC ranked pretty high.
