The team that could surprise in the MAAC is Niagara. They have most of their team back and seemed to figure out their goaltending situation halfway through the season. They won 7 of last 9 in the league and playoffs.

Duke was playing their fourth string goalie. Not close this year. Duke won the tournament game with their goalie making 4 saves and Louisville had 16. In the regular season saves were 17-9 in Louisville favor. Talent level not close now that Duke has reloaded goalies after injuries last year.

I don't know if Louisville has done enough the last couple of years to not be in the fourth tier with Pitt.

The question on Ashley Humphrey is do you get 2022 or 2023 Ashley. A drop of 50 points is pretty significant.

Similar to BC last year where they had a good goalie but upgraded to a better freshman. UNC has the potential to upgrade at some point during the season and play Betty Nelson.

With the 2024 class, you rarely saw KAH at tournaments. Their 2024 class is not impressive for a school of their caliber. There are probably at least 5 of them that won’t ever see the field.

And Taylor Santos from California is really good. She was just named MVP of the all-star game at National Cup. Their 2025 class is better than they are getting credit for.

Supposedly last year , the ACC coaches met and talked about not scheduling the lower teams in order to protect the conference RPI. I think some just chose to not follow that guidance.

Teams have to make sure they are .500 or better to get an at large. Looks bad if you are a team like Notre Dame and need to add Eastern Michigan at the end of the year to get that additional win. Every once and a while you see a game after the conference tournaments and before tournament selection.
