Re: ivy league 2024
Subjectively, this was a good year for the Ivies. From memory: Five Tewaaraton Nominees Brandau: Yale Carroll: Penn King: Harvard Kirst: Cornell Mackesy: Princeton Better than typical record against the ACC and Big10 Cornell playing ND in Long Island in an electric and exciting game Penn and Prince...

Re: Does Notre Dame Repeat As Champions?
As a Cornell fan, I honestly thought ND wasn't that amazing. But it's hard to argue with some of ND's other results, and I find myself scratching my head trying to rectify the Cornell-ND game against the rest of ND's glimmering resume. I would not have thought the ND team I watched was capable of be...

Re: Cornell 2024
From an outside POV, I just don't think Cornell could overcome the personnel losses to graduation and injury on the defensive side. The defense did get better late in the season, but 47th in adjusted defensive efficiency is not a tournament caliber defense. The offense was obviously tremendous, but...

Re: Cornell 2024
It hurts to watch teams like Denver and JHU and PSU lay complete eggs in the league tourneys with no risk of losing a bid and have those putrid efforts in somewhat meaningless games cost Cornell a bid. Couldn't agree more. I understand the NCAA wanting to create some end of season drama but if ther...

Re: Cornell 2024
Just an ugly game. Penn defense and goalie are the best Cornell has faced all year. They are athletic and slide well. They didn't let Kirst breathe tonight. Every time Kirst got a half step on 46, the reinforcements came crashing down. The rest of the offense was able to get OK separation from defen...

Re: Cornell 2024
Transfer portal thread indicates Blake will take his last year at Duke and Wirtheim at UNC. These Ivy guys are just not ACC athletes. Obviously trying to stir the pot with that last sentence. The results on the field this year and over the last 5-6 years speak for themselves. The ivy has won plenty...

Re: 2024 top 20
Too many folks focused on 'best win'. With UVA, their losses - many of them close - are to the top four ranked teams (as another poster pointed out). They are a very good team, flawed (like most), and nobody will want to face them in tourney. Who, and how, you lose is as important to me as wins. To...

Re: 2024 top 20
Cornell loses to ND by 1 and beats Syracuse and barely moves. UVA loses to ND and Syracuse and solidifies its at large resume. Sadly, loses don't count towards anything. I really like Cornell, but this ranking makes sense to me. Outside of #3 Cuse, Cornell doesn't have a top 10 win. Wins over #12 P...

Re: 2024 top 20
My new Top 20 4-27-2024. My apologies to the late games but none will affect my top 20: 1. Notre Dame 2. Johns Hopkins 3. Denver 4. Penn State 5. Syracuse 6. Cornell 7. Georgetown 8. Duke 9. Maryland 10. Virginia 11. Yale 12. Princeton 13. Penn 14. Army 15. St. Joseph 16. Towson 17. Michigan 18. Bo...

Re: Cornell 2024
As expected, given the importance of the game (i.e., ILT seed and the potential for an at large bid if they don't win the AQ), the boys came to play and took care of business. It was however, a game that I can only describe as both strange and sloppy. Strange in that watching on-line it didn't seem...

Re: Cornell 2024
Good win against a determined but ultimately out-skilled Dartmouth team. Buczek has won at least a share of the ivy title in each of his first 3 years. If he keeps this up he'll end up as one of Cornell's all time greats, just need a couple Nattys!

Re: Cornell 2024
Hey Lager, give the pretentious moralizing a rest, why doncha? This is a forum for expressing opinions, even ones you don't like. And: VRR said the Green have "virtually no chance", not "no chance". You said the Green are "much more likely than not" to lose. That sound...

Re: Cornell 2024
I don't mean to put the ultimate jinx on the Big Red, but there is virtually no chance that Dartmouth will win this game. I'm that confident in the coaches and players. A "trap game" is a game against an underdog, but credible team. Not one that is outgunned personnel-wise and 0-5 in the ...

Re: Cornell 2024
Does the ACC still play lacrosse? Kidding, sort of. Once Cornell settled in, cuse was no match for Cornell. ND? Meh. I was expecting more from #1. Felt like they took advantage of Cornell's shortie injury situation, outside of that...good team, nothing special. Goldstein over all these others. Hes s...

Re: Cornell 2024
Top to bottom, ACC is better than IL, but at the top there is certainly not much disparity this year. Cornell’s defense is undeniably a problem but they have either the best or 2nd best starting 6 in the country on offense and can score with anyone. If Psyllos gets healthy and Knust stops like he d...
