Re: NCAA Selection Discussion - Containment Thread
LaxRef has Cornell's SOS at 22. They played Marquette, Albany, and Hobart OOC; 3 teams who's RPI's are all 35 or lower. The Ivy also has 3 teams this year with RPI's lower than 30. So 6 teams Cornell played - half their schedule - had RPI's 30 or lower. Their out of conference schedule was pretty m...

Re: Cornell 2023
Thoughts on some less discussed topics: -Wirtheim may not put up heroic stat lines, but he is very capable of creating his own shot. One of the best pure athletes on the team. -Holmes seems to be one of the quickest players out there, but I'd like to see that translate into more production. -a few p...

Re: Cornell 2023
If the stats are close, which they will be, I do think the coaches will consider the "eyeball" factor. In which case, I think most if not all ivy coaches fear kirst more than Mackesy.

Re: Cornell 2023
Yeah cornell got screwed in 2019, but this is a (far?) superior Cornell squad. Yale was simply much better than Cornell that year, and I'm not sure Cornell beats ND if it's not raining the entire game. Cuse also thoroughly outplayed Cornell that year. All Cornell can do is keep winning. I think a wi...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
Hop just beat a terrible Maryland team. Maryland beat an atrocious Ohio st team in overtime. Milliman was dead weight at Cornell and everyone knew it. Cornell has a superior coaching staff now

Re: Ivy League 2023
My prediction is Yale beats Harvard and gets into the ILT. They will then be a dangerous and motivated team.

Re: Cornell 2023
So Cornell is into the ILT, have they also punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament? I would think yes, especially with penn state continuing to rack up wins, but one can never be too sure

Re: Ivy League 2023
Hugely important that Cornell is getting healthier. Got Long and SSDM Box back today against Marquette. Now just need to get SSDM Bozzi back. Long's absence and depleted ssdm rotation were huge issues against Harvard. Cornell has 3 loseable games remaining against talented opponents. If they can sta...

Re: Duke at UVA Friday March 31 5 pm
What do duke and the worst Yale team in a decade have in common? They both played close and competitive games with Penn. Cornell should be the next #1. ACC been slacking for years now.

Re: Maryland 2022 National Champions
Fair enough. I bend the knee to the best team in college lacrosse. I wouldn't say Cornell is better than Maryland, Maryland had a mild edge in athleticism and skill, I was just anticipating a potentially bigger gap in those areas .

Re: Maryland 2022 National Champions
I wouldn't deny any of that. I'm just saying Maryland is overhyped and over rated. Mostly because they are being touted as an untouchable, GOAT level team. They are still a pretty damn good lacrosse team

Re: Maryland 2022 National Champions
Yep, when you are touting yourself as the best of all time, I'd say over rated. And no, Cornell wasn't getting weak shots off, they were beating their man and Mcananey bailed the defense out many times. People make a big deal out of the Brown goalies performance against Cornell, but frankly Cornell ...

Re: Maryland 2022 National Champions
Maryland fans should be bowing down to Mcananey right now because he's the only reason their over rated "greatest team of all time" didn't get beat. Came in expecting to face a juggernaut, not a team incapable of scoring in 6v6 situations except for a small handful of long range snipes, 1 ...

Re: Cornell 2023
It is downright scary to think about how good Cornell can be next year. Cornell will have TWO first team all American caliber defenders in follows and Adler. If singer, who is fast and big and was a fairly highly rated recruit, can come along, the defense could be incredible. Long and Kirst will spe...

Re: Cornell versus Maryland
Cornell could have EASILY won this game. I don't know how they went into halftime with only 2 goals. They were generating good looks all game with the exception of the third quarter maybe.

Re: Cornell 2022
Cornell could have and maybe should have won this game. They should have had 5 goals at half. Maryland was undoubtedly good but best of all time? I don't know about that

Re: Cornell versus Maryland
Beat team of all time? Cornell wins this game if Mcananey isn't standing on his head, Cornell was getting decent looks all day and I felt as if they physically/athletically were able to hang with Maryland

Re: Cornell versus Maryland
I think folks are underrating how good Princeton is. They are the second best team in the country, and sprinted through two very good teams in BU and Yale. The Princeton-Yale game was not really competitive, Paquette kept it from being a blowout in the first quarter. Princeton was never going to be...
