Re: Michigan at Cornell

Massey: cu_v_um.jpg Does this consider timing of their season results? I mean Michigan has looked tremendous the past 10 days and Cornell looks like a bunch of beer league 30 year olds playing defense. Hard to operate on defense when you get 3 early face off violations (the ref was a joke). After t...

Re: Georgetown vs Yale Game

Quite honestly, Yales performance in the post-covid Era hasn't matched their bravado and self-admitted arrogance. Shay wanted to establish a certain culture, but it really only works if your only losing 1-2 regular season games a year and making it to championship weekend.

Re: Cornell 2023

I would caution against over confidence. When you look at the big tens performance against the ivys this year, there will be plenty of people who view Michigan as the clear favorite. But Cornell will defend every inch of their home turf and I expect them to make life difficult for Michigan.

Re: Cornell 2023

After watching Princeton thump Yale today, I am even more convinced that the 3 early face off violations sunk Cornells chances against Yale. Cascadden was hesitant after that because he had to be. I also think the ref was likely too late on the whistle most of the game

Re: NCAA Selection Discussion - Containment Thread

Penn absolutely shouldn't get in over Cornell. Unfortunately, their "top 5" win over Gtown forces a discussion to be had. I put top 5 in quotations because I don't really think Gtown is a top 5 caliber team. Still, I think Cornell is safely in, probably Yale too. Seeing a lot of folks wit...

Denver also lost to Yale. Penn beat Yale

Re: Cornell 2023

Agree VRR Speed wind dodges with no slides were a head scratcher / was first really off day for our defense all year - looked like we were sleep walking at times The refs made a mess of face offs… for us… not Yale Hope 33 is okay - kid is a warrior Chayse was off all night Should have put 38 in ear...

Re: Cornell 2023

I think this loss will be good for Cornell. I felt the settled play was relatively evenly matched. The difference today was Yale dominating the face off X and the Yale goalie outplaying Ierlan. Yale creating fast break goals off the face off X was maybe the biggest difference. Cornell defense was a...

Re: Cornell 2023

Also worth noting that 2018 Yale used a loss to Cornell in the ILT to springboard them to a national championship...perhaps things will come full circle this year

Yale is an athletic and physically talented team. I would LOVE to see a Yale-Cornell winner take all second round match up in the ncaa tournament.

Hard to say because there's been some mixing and matching. The two players I like to see out there the most are Kelleher and Wirtheim. Both have the speed and burst to create their own shots

Re: Cornell 2023

As the team heads into the ILT and NCAA tourney beyond - I wanted to offer some observations on the general state of all things Cornell Lacrosse: * I think we should all be very proud of the state of the program in the big picture. We have for years now regularly appeared in the top 10 in the count...

Also, did uva not lose to a lackluster Maryland team? Or UNC lose to a poor Ohio state team? ACC may be the best conference but in my eyes it's not set in stone

Re: Tewaaraton Finalist

I don't know why it's simply assumed that O'neill has played much better defenses than kirst. Did Duke not squeak past
a fairly mediocre Penn team? Not really sure why it's assumed that the ACC is far and away the best conference this year.

Re: Tewaaraton Finalist

That’s not the case with Cornell. I think both Duke and UVA have far more depth than Cornell. The offensive statistics bear that out. If you are able to lock down Coyle and Kirst (granted, no small feat), are you really worried about the rest? Umm what? Coyle had a nice start to the season but has ...

Re: NCAA Selection Discussion - Containment Thread

LaxRef has Cornell's SOS at 22. They played Marquette, Albany, and Hobart OOC; 3 teams who's RPI's are all 35 or lower. The Ivy also has 3 teams this year with RPI's lower than 30. So 6 teams Cornell played - half their schedule - had RPI's 30 or lower. Their out of conference schedule was pretty m...
