Re: Navy 2025
Im sure he wpnt have to go far to find a great school with a great program! He will be a fantastic addition to any of the top 10 teams in the country! Not to mention a great kid! Best wishes to AJ; I really enjoyed getting to see him play for Navy a few times in person and I agree there should be p...

Re: Yale 2025
Good write-ups for the 2025 Yale season. A few thoughts: • Despite losing the GOAT scorer, there is a boatload of offense coming back next season. It is unclear who the third attackmen will be – Monihan certainly looked more like an attackman than a midfielder this season – but there certainly appe...

Re: Navy 2025
That's what Ty Xanders is reporting. Was he injured this year or did he leave USNA at some point? No stats for him in spring 2024, so far as I can tell, although he was referenced in a fallball 2023 Inside Lacrosse "all access" article.

Re: Brown 2024
Have no idea of reliability, but @College_Crosse is posting these names as the four candidates: Princeton OC Jim Mitchell North Carolina OC Jon Thompson High Point HC Jon Torpey Notre Dame OC Chris Wojcik All have prior HC experience and ties to the Ivy League. Some have ties to Brown. DocBarrister...

Re: Brown 2024
Per the Xanders tweet: https://x.com/tyxanders/status/1790873730102579702?s=61 I’ve heard it’s already down to two. One is a well established current HC at a program that has been to the tournament in the past few years. The other might be still coaching in the tournament. Will be interesting to se...

Re: Yale 2025
Major questions for 2025: How will Yale adjust to Matt Brandau's departure? Tremendous performer who made all around him better; had an amplifying effect that is difficult to quantify. Who will start in goal? #28 had some great moments but his save percentage dipped to 49% (down from his career bes...

Ivy League 2025
Wish we were still posting in the 2024 Ivy thread with an Ivy representative advancing to the quarterfinals of this year's NCAA tournament, but it was not to be. Some interesting storylines for 2025, headlined by the coaching change in Providence. (Brown poster Counselor, always a great source for i...

Re: QF #3 Hopkins vs #6 Virginia Sunday @2:30
Bit of a deeper dive on the faceoffs issue. When the teams played during the regular season, JHU had a 20-14 advantage against a Virginia team missing its top 2024 FOGO, Anthony Ghobriel. Last year, when Ghobriel was playing for Navy, he did well but didn't dominate against Hop FOGOs Callahan and Du...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
Good win for Hopkins against a Lehigh team playing very well. Fantastic in-game coaching adjustment for the Jays in switching up FOGOs, and the depth to do that will continue to be crucial down the stretch. As others have noted, in this rematch with UVA the fact that UVA will have its top FOGO Ghobr...

Bravo to the Hoyas. What a comeback, what a win. Feels like a career-defining win for Coach Warne. Best of luck to Georgetown as they advance!

Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
Nice win for Yale! They beat a gritty Hopkins squad to advance. Down 6-5 in the second half, they outscored Hopkins 4-1 down the stretch and pulled out the win. Hopkins played very good defense and none of the goals came easily. I was very impressed with Coach Bamford of Yale; she saved her timeout...

Re: Yale 2025
Great post, Fann. I'd forgotten that you had been able to watch the offense in the fall led by Lyons and Johnson with no Brandau -- very encouraging observations indeed. (And I'd love to see Andrew Stimmel come back if he'd be up for it.) I too wondered about conversions to ssdm, either from the LSM...

Re: ivy league 2024
A couple more pending league storylines: 1. Who will be the new Brown HC? 2. And where will the remaining 5th year transfers end up? Inside Lacrosse has done a good job covering the destinations of guys like Wirtheim (UNC), Blake (Duke), Campisi (ND), and Monfort (Hopkins). I’m glad those players wi...

Re: ivy league 2024
Well, Cinderella’s coach turned back into a pumpkin. I’m sorry that Princeton (and its great goalie) didn’t have their best day, but congratulations to the Tigers on a fine season.

Re: Ivy League
I'm mostly a DI men's lacrosse fan but went to a double-header at Yale for senior day for the men and women and saw the Yale women clinch sole possession of the regular season Ivy title with a win over Columbia. That got me tuning in on ESPN+ to the Ivy tournament -- wow, what a classic come-from-be...

Re: Navy 2025
So, who should Navy hire as the next OC or would you prefer a completely new staff? Agnostic to the second half of this question, but assuming Amplo sticks around I think it's likely Andrew Stimmel will be on his shortlist. Joe's a loyalty guy and the two had a strong 2016 season together at Marque...

Re: Yale 2024
before brandau heads off to other pastures, wanted to chime in on him. since his freshman year, to me he was an absolute standout. they don't make the championship game without him. how often do you say that about freshmen? ~75 points, and 50 of them were goals, many of the take your guy to the rac...

Re: Yale 2025
Long range 2025 Post #2 -- Position groupings: Attack: Even with the departure of Matt Brandau, there's cause for optimism with the attack group, particularly if Chris Lyons and Leo Johnson are healthy. I could see Johnson filling the QB role that Brandau held (he was second behind Brandau in assist...
