Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
Nice win for Yale! They beat a gritty Hopkins squad to advance. Down 6-5 in the second half, they outscored Hopkins 4-1 down the stretch and pulled out the win. Hopkins played very good defense and none of the goals came easily. I was very impressed with Coach Bamford of Yale; she saved her timeout...

Re: Yale 2025
Great post, Fann. I'd forgotten that you had been able to watch the offense in the fall led by Lyons and Johnson with no Brandau -- very encouraging observations indeed. (And I'd love to see Andrew Stimmel come back if he'd be up for it.) I too wondered about conversions to ssdm, either from the LSM...

Re: ivy league 2024
A couple more pending league storylines: 1. Who will be the new Brown HC? 2. And where will the remaining 5th year transfers end up? Inside Lacrosse has done a good job covering the destinations of guys like Wirtheim (UNC), Blake (Duke), Campisi (ND), and Monfort (Hopkins). I’m glad those players wi...

Congratulations to the Terps on a convincing win. John Tillman’s still got that tournament magic! Great performance by Maryland.

Re: ivy league 2024
Well, Cinderella’s coach turned back into a pumpkin. I’m sorry that Princeton (and its great goalie) didn’t have their best day, but congratulations to the Tigers on a fine season.

Re: Ivy League
I'm mostly a DI men's lacrosse fan but went to a double-header at Yale for senior day for the men and women and saw the Yale women clinch sole possession of the regular season Ivy title with a win over Columbia. That got me tuning in on ESPN+ to the Ivy tournament -- wow, what a classic come-from-be...

Re: Navy 2025
So, who should Navy hire as the next OC or would you prefer a completely new staff? Agnostic to the second half of this question, but assuming Amplo sticks around I think it's likely Andrew Stimmel will be on his shortlist. Joe's a loyalty guy and the two had a strong 2016 season together at Marque...

Re: Yale 2024
before brandau heads off to other pastures, wanted to chime in on him. since his freshman year, to me he was an absolute standout. they don't make the championship game without him. how often do you say that about freshmen? ~75 points, and 50 of them were goals, many of the take your guy to the rac...

Re: Yale 2025
Long range 2025 Post #2 -- Position groupings: Attack: Even with the departure of Matt Brandau, there's cause for optimism with the attack group, particularly if Chris Lyons and Leo Johnson are healthy. I could see Johnson filling the QB role that Brandau held (he was second behind Brandau in assist...

Re: Yale 2025
Major questions for 2025: How will Yale adjust to Matt Brandau's departure? Tremendous performer who made all around him better; had an amplifying effect that is difficult to quantify. Who will start in goal? #28 had some great moments but his save percentage dipped to 49% (down from his career bes...

Re: Yale 2025
Congratulations to Max Krevsky on being elected 2024-25 captain (I saw this via a Brian Tevlin re-tweet). Lots of reasons for optimism about the 2025 season, but I'll hold off for a while on that. Congratulations to Max Krevsky! What a pleasure it's been to see his game grow during his Yale career ...

Re: Tewaaraton Award 2024
Finalists are out. Brandau is almost certainly done with no tournament appearance, will be one of Shelly, PKav, Oneill, or Entenmann You’re assuming one of those ‘tournament’ guys excels the next two weeks. I still say it’s Brandau’s. His PPG lead over everyone is too large to ignore. I love Matt B...

Re: ivy league 2024
Exactly. I had the same reaction to the ND "snub" in 2022. It doesn't matter how many 5 stars recruits you have on the roster, or that you won your last three games. The entire season matters. Every game. Win more games and you will make the tournament. I wouldn't change that. It can't be...

Re: ivy league 2024
I realize this is situations edifice but if you take a step back you have am Ivy heard complaining about the fairness to a patten that didn’t favor then and many solutions are to change the system to just include them or to “f**k” everyone else in the same system we’re in with that nonsense AQ, the...

Re: ivy league 2024
Still having a hard time accepting how the math worked out that the Big Ten is a 4 bid league and the Ivy is a 1 bid league. Just doesn't seem to comport with the reality of watching every week. If you get a bit deeper in the weeds and really follow RPI, it tracks more. This year having two Ivies (...

Re: Maryland 2024
Don't mind being with Duke at all, and don't mind playing Princeton again. Wierman dominated that game. Think its safe to say Princeton appears to be a much different team from when they played... and MD has very much regressed If Wierman goes 20-23 again, Maryland will be fine. I have the same ana...

Re: ivy league 2024
Welp, it went as we thought once Yale and Cornell lost in the first round of the ILT and top seeded teams lost in the Big East and Big 10 tournament. I enjoyed watching a competitive slate of Ivy League games this year. Sincere congratulations to Princeton and best of luck to the Tigers in the NCAA ...
