Re: UVA 2024
I agree that Lyght was playing Shellenberger pretty well, but do you really want a first year man who hadn’t done much all day or a big middie whose game is overpowering smaller defensive players but who was struggling to key the possession? That possession took me back a generation to a game at Rut...

Re: UVA 2024
ND win the gb battle against a team that usually wins it. Criticize the OC if you will, but UVA didn’t get much offense from any of their usual leaders except for their all time leading goal scorer. I would say it was a bit curious on that late possession to see the third attackman and a midfielder ...

Re: Notre Dame 2024
And UVA didn’t have possession there because someone couldn’t scoop the critical gb, kind if the story of the day.

Re: UVA 2024
UVA best ND twice last year but lost their most important matchup. It’s hard to find any weaknesses on ND. Like most teams, they could use some depth a dm, and their attack, while excellent, lacks a natural lefty. UVA has some top talent but features a few weaknesses that have been apparent all year...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2024
I always park on Linkwood. You may have to park farther north than usual with the anticipated crowd. When I lived in Hampden, I walked to Homewood. Back then we didn’t have those two hour restricted areas, but as property values have skyrocketed, I think parking is more duffito find there. Linkwood ...

Re: BOOKS
Now reading part 2 of “James.” If “Moby Dick” is not the great American novel, then I’ll defer to Hemingway, who said “Huckleberry Finn” is the touch stone. Everett relates the events of HF from the standpoint of Jim. I was initially hesitant about a reworking of a masterpiece, but this one is capti...

Re: Tewaaraton Award 2024
I would, too, and that’s why I’m looking forward to seeing him versus Brandau. I just don’t think it’s going to a defenseman on a team that’s not having a great season. I guess his best position is LSM, but against UVA Ct he took face-off wings but covered Shellenberger. I assume he always covers th...

Re: Tewaaraton Award 2024
I earlier that the winner would be a member of a team that makes a deep run in the playoffs, in other words, O’Neill, Shellenberger, Pat Kavanagh, or the other big lefty who plays for the Ivy team that I think will give the farthest. I’m not sure how far Yale will go, but Brandau is so far ahead in ...

Re: Tewaaraton Award 2024
Quite obvious to this ACC fan that the Ivies are far from weak. The second best team in the ACC lost to a team that may of may not make the ILT. Another team that could make the ILT outplayed the third best team in the ACC, and the best team in the Ivy League beat the fourth—maybe third—best team in...

Re: Cornell 2024
As someone who follows the ACC closely—there is a highly regarded freshman attackman on my favorite teams and the best player on the weakest ACC team is a freshman—I’m not sure there’s a freshman attackman in the ACC that I would trade for Goldstein. He’s fundamentally sound, he doesn’t hog the ball...

Are Booker and George brothers? I have a funny story about the older George Corrigan, the brother of Gene and Dick Corrigan, former UVA and Yale coaches.

Re: Cornell 2024
From this ACC fan and Ivy reject, Cornell would vie for the number one spot in the ACC this year. They beat SU in what looked like a blowout and damn near beat the number one team in the country. Their attack is superb, their first midfield is excellent, and they are getting superior play from the g...
