Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Of course, Brown is an attractive destination, but it has to play in a conference with HPY (arguably the three most attractive destinations in the country) and Cornell with its legendary lax history. And following Lars has to be a tough act. not trying to be offensive, but it is a solid job... It i...

Re: Brown 2024
So do we think the Brown AD has called John Thompson yet? Huge fan of JT. He would be an amazing fit for the program. The Amherst incident ultimately reflected poorly on the college president and not on Thompson. He had by far the best record in the NESCAC of recruiting young men of color to play f...

Re: Brown 2024
I have tickets for the game today, but will admit that if the noon result is unfavorable, my purchase may turn out to be just a contribution to the Harvard Athletic Department. Massey has the Bears as 4.5 point dogs, although in a game like this with so many criss-crossing story lines, it's hard to ...

Re: ISL
Thanks for the excellent update, as always, Laxxal. I know that your analysis is widely distributed among the players and families. Two nail-biter games yesterday with Seb's and Milton winning in OT. Chris Merageas led the Arrows with 7 (!) goals to take over the ISL lead in that category. Milton we...

Re: Brown 2024
We are about to see a record set on the number of shots per game (current pace = 11.66), the number of missed shots per game (current pace = 9.4) and the lowest shooting % for someone with >100 shots (current pace = .193). This record-setting season has also seen the second most penalties on the tea...

Re: NESCAC
If Amherst and Midd are both bubble teams, that means they really are not looking forward to playing Trinity over the next two games. From the little I have seen of the Bants, they seem to be peaking at the right time. My impression is that the coaching staff gives the players a lot of leeway on the...

Re: ivy league 2024
Don't look now but the race for the Ivy League tournament is getting kind of interesting with Brown's upset of Princeton. Brown: currently 1-3, has beaten Princeton head-to-head, still with Dartmouth and Harvard to play. Harvard: currently 1-3, with Brown and Cornell still to play; Princeton: curre...

Stream for Belmont Hill - IMG at 4:00: https://fan.hudl.com/usa/ma/belmont/organization/13726/belmont-hill-high-school Hudl streams are kind of terrible at following the action as they use a machine instead of a camera person. I think the company oversold it's technical abilities, and kids are goin...

Re: NESCAC
They have the best goalie and arguably the best fogo who btw subdued Mason Kohn (the now Syracuse FOGO) in the Natty. Two very unserious takes, one of which even uses made up stats. https://i.ibb.co/37hPyyF/IMG-9103.jpg https://i.ibb.co/S5sR92N/IMG-9102.jpg What are we even doing here? Had to be th...

Re: ivy league 2024
At the risk of sidetracking discussion of the 2024 Ivy season, an interesting question popped up on the Brown thread about whether Kirwan would consider the Brown job if it opened. It made me wonder about which Ivy job is the most desirable for a coach. Here is my quick take: 1. Yale -- Recent natio...

Re: Brown 2024
What a brutal way to make a living. Your success and livelihood depend on the split-second decisions of young men on and off the field -- young men who do not have the benefit of a fully-developed prefrontal cortex. At a certain point, the numbers are the numbers in this profession, despite the high...

Re: NCAC 2024
Ned...I agree that new stadium is NOT showcased on the otherwise excellent Big Red Network broadcasts. The camera view is from the press box and shows the teams are on the far side of the field, where there are no stands at all. Looks like no one is at the game. Minor pet peeve of mine is that many...

Re: NESCAC
I would venture to guess some of those LL kids were strung along in the recruiting process at some of the NESCAC schools they are now beating...karma IME, your guess is not correct. I know a bunch of kids playing in/committed to programs in both leagues and AFAIK this did not happen to any of them....

Re: ISL
BC High up 6-0 over Milton at half and put in JV kids and backups start of third. It was quite cold. It was cold. But it wasn't 6-0 at the half and there were still mostly starters playing for both teams in the third quarter during the Milton run. To paraphrase the immortal Meatloaf, one out of thr...

Re: ISL
There are some compelling games today that serve as the season opener for many ISL teams. I included a few Livestream links, but Laxxal is usually better at sniffing these out. Belmont Hill at Deerfield – Bel Hill won this game 6-4 last season, but Ben Wood, the offensive weapon masquerading as a d ...

Re: ivy league 2024
That game should not have been played. Hard to even call it a lacrosse game in those conditions. That forecast was known for several days. Should have called an audible and moved to Sunday. Or what they really should have done was pay off that cranky lady a few years ago who prevented Dartmouth fro...

Yale/Cornell game moved to 2 because of weather Tks!👍🏻 Dartmouth hosting Penn in Hanover at noon NOT being moved....because of the weather! Dartmouth lady laxers are smarter than the men...as they bumped their game to Sunday (see sunny and toasty forecast below). Girls are generally smarter t...

Re: UMass @ Brown-Friday Afternoon At 3:00 PM
Well, apparently something was off with The Drip King’s stick. Saw a call like that earlier this season. Only time it’s a bad call is if it’s wrong. Nothing like the mismatched gloves call by Tills vs OSU. illegal sticks actually give an advantage. Lots of bad penalties by Brown. Didn’t love the no...
